Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this season 49cm

Posted on Wednesday 19th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

We're looking nicely frosted this morning.

First up, fresh snow headlines from the resorts:

Hakuba Goryu: 10cm (Toomi)

Hakuba 47: 5-10cm (base-top)

Hakuba Cortina: 10-20cm (base-top)

Hakuba Happo-one: 15cm (Gondola top station)

Hakuba Iwatake: 10cm

47 are reporting 5-10cm on official website but they are also saying 20cm overnight and that much again during the day yesterday too. So I'm a bit confused with their information this morning. Still, larger numbers are more exciting than smaller ones and perhaps I need to investigate!

More terrain is opening up too which is great to hear and I'll try to keep up with developments every morning.

More of 47 and Goryu is opening up - the top area is now open and a large part of 47 is now available.

Happo-one also have the Panorama, Usagidaira and Riesen areas now available.

Norikura is also now open with two lifts operating.

There doesn't seem to be any changes yet at Tsugaike and Cortina.

Lots of blue sky right now, but snow is due tonight.

Come on!!!!!! :)
