Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 156cm

Posted on Tuesday 18th December 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

Unfortunately yesterday was a heat wave and it was warm all day long with some light rain early evening. The snow in the village continued to melt and the roads went to slush. Temperatures have dipped down below freezing again and today looks to be a swing back to winter, There is 3cm of new snow and we will get a lot more during the day. Out on the mountain it is snowing moderately with low cloud. Visibility is limited so caution is required, as there are quite a few bumps and dips on the slopes that won't be easy to spot. The Gondola line was being worked on yesterday so it is possible that it will be operational this weekend.
