Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 16cm Snowfall at base this season 621cm Posted on Friday 7th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . It's still snowing. Check the snowfall numbers reported by ski areas in the list below. It will probably be snowing until at least Sunday and maybe into Monday. I was thinking about this last night... I admit to be kind of struggling for words at the moment. I certainly don't want to go overboard with superlatives. It all has to be kept in check, no matter how exciting all this snow is. Still, it is obviously a way way way better 'problem' to have than struggling with snowfall and having to try and tell you about that! :) Enjoy. Be very careful. Note: Top lifts at Happo-one and Tsugaike on hold and perhaps more too as they all deal with the snow. -------------------------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Top: 40cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Top: 460cm Top: 210cm ------------ Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park New snowfall (reported as 'todays snowfall' by the ski area): Top: 40cm Base: 20cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Top: 460cm Base: 230cm ------------ Hakuba Cortina New snowfall (reported by the ski area): 20cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 430cm ------------ Hakuba Happo-one New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Kurobushi (1680m): 40cm Usagidaira (1400m): 25cm Nakiyama (800m): 10cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Kurobushi (1680m): 550cm Usagidaira (1400m): 350cm Nakiyama (800m): 200cm ------------ Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field New snowfall (reported by the ski area): Mountain Side: 30cm Village Side: 20cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Mountain Side: 375cm Village Side: 180cm ------------ Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 455cm ------------ Jigatake New snowfall (reported by the ski area): 10cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 200cm ------------ Kashimayari Skijo Family Park Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 240cm ------------ Tsugaike Mountain Resort Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Upper: 368cm Base: 142cm ------------ White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 210cm Hakuba Now 2024-2025 season Data as Friday 7th February 2025 Total snowfall at base so far 621cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 49 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 38cm (28th December) November 2024 snowfall 42cm reported on 3 days December 2024 snowfall 278cm reported on 21 days January 2025 snowfall 235cm reported on 19 days February 2025 snowfall 66cm reported on 6 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 35cm Snowfall at base this season 436cm Posted on Thursday 6th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Good morning from a very cold Shiga Kogen. We have had lots of lovely light fine powder snow since yesterday. (Very) early morning Yakebitaiyama was reporting 25cm but there will have been a fair bit more than that since then. I'd say this morning generally there is 30+cm, and there is definitely be more than that in places. (A friend mentioned up to 50cm). Like yesterday there is a chance of periods of snow easing off and brighter skies during the day, but generally the snow clouds are due to be with us for another 3-4 days; and heavy snow at times. A few of the official snow depth numbers have nudged up, but in generally I think they are pretty meaningless. Nishdateyama @ 50cm!? Really? • Myoko Now: Thursday 6th February 2025

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata New snowfall at base 62cm Snowfall at base this season 1057cm Posted on Thursday 6th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . Some crazy snow and wind last night, and a pretty good addition to the snowpack this morning. It’s still coming down steadily now, if it is pretty fine flakes. There are high wind warnings up for Niigata Prefecture today, and Saturday also looks like it could bring some pretty strong breezes to us. It was and is staying cold, too. There is a pretty hard layer underneath the new snow, so people heading to the backcountry should be a bit cautious today. Lots of light snow also increases the chances of sluffing, and you don’t want to be carried into a valley by flowing soft snow. Heavy snows cause some unexpected things. Stopped by my house in the afternoon and smelled what seemed like gas; checked the stove and fixtures, didn’t find anything, but there were some gasoline cans in the entry that needed to be filled for a car-less neighbor. Going to my office, I saw a fire truck with it’s light on one street up, so went to check. The neighbors said the stream started to smell like kerosene; maybe an old tank had been ruptured by the snow; maybe somebody’s snowthrower tank slid into the stream. Went home to find another fire truck at my house, where snow sliding off the roof had knocked the gas meter to the side and allowed gas to leak! Unrelated, but still smelly, and means no hot water in the house until the crew can pull the whole thing out. Which means many hours of digging (the pipes start about five meters down under the snow that has fallen from the roof). Ah, the unexpected fun that comes in snow country. It’s not just avalanches we have to worry about. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . We have a lot of fresh snow! I'm a bit confused with the snowfall numbers on the official site this morning, so leaving them off here. But anyway, the heaviest snowfall was yesterday morning and then evening and overnight (it eased off during the daytime). It has eased off now too, and there is even a bit of sun peeking through the clouds in places (check the Yamabiko image below). Our daily reports are not posted on behalf of ski areas or any other business or organisation. Since first going online in 1999, the integrity of this website has always been our top priority, and it is something we are not prepared to compromise. All content is carefully created and written by humans who share a passion for the subject and what SnowJapan stands for. About SnowJapan.com About the daily reporting on SnowJapan.com
