Independent snow and weather reporting from the Naeba region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 30cm
Snowfall at base this season 779cm

Posted on Monday 10th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Naeba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Naeba.

The snowstorm continues, but the wind has calmed significantly.

We measured 30 cm of fresh, light snow this morning, and Gondola 2 has opened as scheduled. Both Dragondola and the Tashiro area of Kagura are closed today.

Since tomorrow is a public holiday, many have a long weekend, so we can expect busy slopes today. Visibility is fair at the base but poor at higher elevations.

We've seen many people ducking the ropes, venturing into unknown areas, and getting stuck in deep snow - please don’t do this. As many black runs as possible are open while maintaining safety, but there are still deep cracks hidden beneath the snow in prohibited zones. Be cautious of inexperienced riders attempting to navigate deep snow. Stay safe!
