Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 34cm
Snowfall at base this season 727cm

Posted on Monday 10th February 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Hello from Nozawa and we've had another large amount of snow since yesterday morning.

Since then the ski area has reported 63cm on the top Yamabiko area and 56cm at Uenotaira; 30+ down at base areas.

There's some limited visibility up on the mountain as of 9am still, but there are also some signs lower down that the sun wants to make an appearance.

We do expect more snow especially overnight again into tomorrow morning. Then some clearer weather probably on Wednesday along with milder conditions.

Tomorrow is a national holiday and some people will be taking today off to make it a long weekend. As such it might be busier than a normal Monday.

Fresh snowfall since yesterday morning (as reported by the ski area):

Yamabiko: 23+40cm

Uenotaira: 11+45cm

Hikage: 10+30cm

Nagasaka: 10+30cm

Karasawa: 10+20cm

Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area):

Yamabiko: 385cm

Uenotaira: 355cm

Hikage: 290cm

Nagasaka: 290cm

Karasawa: 230cm
