Yesterday afternoon, the resort was reporting 5cm of snow since the morning on the upper slopes. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Some more snow yesterday including 22cm being reported by the resort from the top Yamabiko area. Just a little down below and no more overnight. Today sunshine is due along with blue skies though there has been a fair bit of cloud around early on. It should be a really great morning out there. Early morning is recommended as we are clicking back into 'spring' with quickly rising temperatures, and more so tomorrow. We might not be over with the snow just yet though with a chance of more early next week. (!) The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Morning from Nozawa. Happy to report some decent snowfall during the day yesterday. The resort was reporting up to 20cm on the top Yamabiko area by late afternoon with an additional 10cm since then, so a nice round 30cm of fresh snow on the upper mountain and 20+cm down below. It is a cloudy Saturday morning and keeping good and cold. Down at around -4C now and won't be budging much above that during the day. Snow forecast for this morning in the Tokyo region - I wonder if that might affect people planning to come up to the mountains for the weekend. Monday is a national holiday in Japan, so it's a long weekend and usually a very busy one. More snow due tonight which should be make for a very good early morning tomorrow too. Have a fun weekend wherever you are. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Just been out doing some snow shovelling. Good exercise. No sexy shiny snow blower machine for me. And I thought I'd get it out of the way before the weekend snow arrives. It is a mostly cloudy and grey morning, though there are a few small breaks in the cloud in places especially in base areas. Earlier light snowfall has stopped. Lots of snow being reported by the resort again with over 40cm from Uenotaira (15-20cm of that from during the daytime yesterday). I have less to report myself, perhaps wind affecting numbers there. Whatever, there's some very fine snow to be enjoyed right now. Nasuki (or Nasuki as I call him/her) - everyone's fave bright green vegetable mascot character that enjoys skiing - looks very excited about the upcoming heavy snow. As am I. It's due to be snowing tomorrow, getting heavier later in the day and building up to some potentially impressively heavy snow overnight into Sunday. Nice. And as my Madarao Now friend just posted in their report, that may well be enough to put some people off coming this weekend. So, potentially less people than normal for a weekend. We'll just have to see. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . A really nice morning yesterday. It seemed to take a while for people to appear - I wonder why?! - but the weather and conditions were probably enough to convince even those with a hangover to strap on the skis or board. Clouds started appearing again later in the day and by evening it was snowing again and this morning Nozawa are reporting up to 25cm of fresh snow on the upper slopes and a good 10-15cm on lower areas. Which is a nice surprise. Light snow still falling this morning and the snow clouds should be with us today and tomorrow. Perhaps just light snow, rather than what we got last week. If you are wanting to be here for some sunshine, perhaps timing your visit for Friday is a good bet. And some people will be back at work by then too... Special nighta until 8:00pm tonight at Nagasaka. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 3cm Snowfall at base this season 207cm Posted on Tuesday 1st January 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Happy New Year! There's some low cloud over the village early on but clearer skies up above with the sun shining down on the mountain. It's going to be a lovely morning and early birds are going to enjoy it out there. Snow clouds are due back later in the day though so unclear as to how long the sun will last. Since yesterday afternoon the resort is reporting 2-5cm of snowfall, and there was a bit more than that before 3pm - though I wasn't able to catch those numbers. Not major. With all the snow over the last few days, like I said, it should be an excellent start to the new year and the forecast shows regular snow over the coming week as well. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Nozawa. And Happy Christmas! I spotted Santa on some skis yesterday talking with our favourite skiing vegetable Nozawa mascot, Nasuki. Good to see them getting along. The resort is reporting 3-5cm of fresh snowfall overnight on the mountain, in addition to the 5-13cm of snow that they reported during the daytime yesterday. I'm measuring just a bit since my report yesterday. It is always good to report numbers, but these are not big numbers. But we are probably not going to have to wait much longer to enjoy some much bigger numbers and the bigsnow fun should be starting from tomorrow night. Don't worry if it is a bit wet at first, the last part of the week and the weekend is set to be very snowy indeed. Excellent. - Nozawa Now: Friday 26th January 2018
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 26cm Snowfall at base this season 483cm Posted on Friday 26th January 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Hello from Nozawa. By 3pm yesterday the resort was reporting 10-18cm of fresh snowfall across the mountain and this morning and extra 10-20cm, so that makes a total of 20-38cm since my last report. I have measured 26cm of snowfall myself. Really great quality snow too with temperatures keeping very low through the last few days. It's really cold. And it isn't going to warm up any during the day today - or tomorrow - either if the forecasts are correct. More cold, more snow. The mountain is getting a totally major refresh. Yesterday the top Yamabiko A-E courses were closed from quite early on due to fog and poor visibility.
