Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 17cm
Snowfall at base this season 450cm
Posted on Monday 11th January 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
Snow clouds have remain but there are already signs that it will ease off this morning and there might be clearer conditions. It's been covered with cloud again now but a few moments ago I saw some blue sky. It feels kind of bright down here.
Visibility remains limited on the upper areas of the mountain this morning.
So we'll just have to see how things develop in the coming hours but I wouldn't expect much snow in terms of cm before tomorrow.
Sunshine on Wednesday? That would be really cool actually. As long as there's snow on the other side and it doesn't warm up much, of course.
Fresh snowfall recorded by the resort (since yesterday morning):
- Yamabiko (1407m): 20cm
- Uenotaira (1230m): 14cm
- Hikage (660m): 15cm
- Nagasaka (615m): 15cm
- Karasawa (563m): 5cm
