New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 433cm
Posted on Sunday 10th January 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
Good morning from Nozawa. It's cold and snowy once again.
Overnight 15-18cm being reported by Nozawa Onsen on top of the snow that fell during the daytime yesterday. That gives us close on another 30cm fresh snow being reported from the upper areas of the mountain.
Goes without saying that the snow conditions right now are excellent.
Interestingly, still not much of a wind, so it doesn't feel 'stormy'.
It also doesn't feel like a normal January 3 day long weekend but it was never going to be given the circumstances. But for those who are able to, there's a real treat out there.
Snow should ease off later on and tomorrow mostly cloudy.
Fresh snowfall recorded by the resort (since yesterday morning):
- Yamabiko (1407m): 19cm
- Uenotaira (1230m): 28cm
- Hikage (660m): 17cm
- Nagasaka (615m): 17cm
- Karasawa (563m): 5cm
