Good morning from Yuzawa and Merry Christmas.

After the fine sunny weather of yesterday - the sun was out and when I went past the temperature reading by the side of the road in town it was saying +7C degrees.

Clouds did indeed move over Yuzawa yesterday with light snow starting to fall in town by the afternoon.

It snowed throughout the day yesterday and heavily at times. Result: an additional 34cm of snow measured since my last report.

It was a lovely morning yesterday... and then later on... it rained! Grrrr.

After that bumper haul of fresh snow on the ground yesterday, we had a little more snow one and off but it didn't amount to much.

It's a very good morning to you all from here in Yuzawa. Now this is more like it!!

The snow clouds are still over the Niigata region - though they seem to be delivering more snow to the areas north of Yuzawa for the moment.

It's good to see fresh snow on the ground. Not as much as we were hoping for perhaps - I am measuring 6cm.

Snow started falling during the day yesterday in Yuzawa. Felt really cold last night and this morning there is around 6cm to add to the report.

Colder this morning and somewhat wet snow is falling at the moment with a thin cover of snow on the ground. Just slightly under 1cm at my measuring point.

Good morning from Yuzawa. And we have some fresh snow.

It was raining quite heavily yesterday afternoon at times, apparently even higher up. It was rather dark too at times, all a bit gloomy.

Not the nicest of weather conditions for this first day of the ski season in Yuzawa.
