New snowfall at base 0cm
Snowfall at base this season 151cm

Posted on Monday 25th December 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Yuzawa and Merry Christmas.

I'd rather not have to report this morning because it's raining. And pretty heavily at times too overnight. You might notice that the official snow depth info from resorts have generally been going down over the last few days.

The good news that I can give you is that it is snowing at higher elevations and the rain should turning into snow down to town sometime during the day today. And then snow is forecast over the next few days, so we should be on the receiving end of quite a lot in the coming days. We all know how quickly things can transform with a storm that lasts a few days; let's hope that what we are about to get is one of them.

For today though - it's not very appealing out there and while lots of people around town now, I expect many will be put off and taking an onsen instead.

If you are still keen to get out there, Kagura is only open up to the Number 1 romance lift and the Tashiro area is closed for the day due to the weather conditions. GALA Yuzawa are also saying that the forecast strong winds today may well affect lift/gondola operations.
