Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 34cm
Posted on Wednesday 13th December 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.
The snow clouds are still over the Niigata region - though they seem to be delivering more snow to the areas north of Yuzawa for the moment. That happens sometimes. I have another 4cm to add to the report this morning. There will be more at higher elevations of course, and I can indeed report that the Kagura resort is talking about 5-10cm of fresh snow on their slopes this morning.
Right now there are actually some breaks in the cloud above Yuzawa and even some blue sky on show, but snow is forecast for the day and it should remain cold and not getting much above 1C. More snow is due into tomorrow morning as well before easing off.
No movement from Iwappara and Joetsu Kokusai yet. I doubt there is enough snow yet but we'll keep an eye on that situation.
More snow please!
