Morning from Yuzawa.
Snow started falling during the day yesterday in Yuzawa. Felt really cold last night and this morning there is around 6cm to add to the report.
It's a cloudy and chilly start to the day with sun and milder conditions currently forecast for tomorrow.
From this morning the Tashiro Ropeway and Tashiro area of the Kagura resort will be operating and conditions should be good - this morning Kagura are reporting 20cm of fresh snow at Kagura and 10cm at both the Mitsumata and Tashiro areas.
Today also sees Naeba opening for the season. They will have the Prince Number 2 Gondola operating as well as the upper Takenokodaira pair lift and course, and two lifts on the lower slopes. You won't be able to ski from the top area to base though.
The Iwappara and Joetsu Kokusai resorts are now both on standby and are ready to open as soon as there is enough snow... but that will not be today.
The forecast is still showing snow in the coming week, starting Monday. Fingers crossed Nature will deliver for us.
