No fresh snow overnight after it cleared up yesterday to leave us with some lovely blue skies this morning.

Fresh snow on the ground again with 5-10cm being reported by the resort and snow continuing to fall now though it's not expected to last the day.

After that fine day yesterday, it's back to snow this morning.

First of all, it was great to hear yesterday morning that the people who were missing at the resort were found and apparently unharmed after digging themselves into a snow hole for shelter.

Good morning from Nozawa, and the good news continues with another 50+cm of snow being reported by the resort up on the top Yamabiko area.

Some people may well accuse me of not being excited enough the other week in between all that rain and lower slopes that were barely covered in snow.

Fresh snowfall reported by the resort since yesterday...

Lovely day yesterday. The sun was out and blue skies. Conditions at Yamabiko were very nice.

It's another of those days when we have a fair amount of fresh snow up top (25cm on the top slopes) but hardly anything down below.

It is a cold start to the day and a cloudy start as well.
