Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 172cm
Posted on Tuesday 10th January 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
Morning from Nozawa.
It's another of those days when we have a fair amount of fresh snow up top (25cm on the top slopes) but hardly anything down below. Snow high, rain low. While that is far from ideal, there should be some very nice conditions on the higher slopes this morning. And while it's cloudy early, it looks like it could be clearing up for the daytime. Watch out for probably mild conditions during the day today, tomorrow should be colder.
The forecast is still looking excellent for the coming week. Lighter snow perhaps tomorrow and Thursday with the "main event" (sustained heavy snowfall, hopefully) due from Friday and through the weekend. Don't let us down, nature!
