Good morning from Nozawa Onsen on this last day of the 2016-2017 season.

Sorry, I'm not in Nozawa this morning so going off reports from a friend and a bit of help from the webcams.

There's quite a lot of cloud around but it feels like it is clearing and indeed sun is on the local forecasts.

Not much to report other than cloudy skies at the start of the day.

A bit of snow at base with 5-7cm being reported by the resort up top this morning.

Morning from Nozawa and some nice numbers being reported by the resort, along with some fresh snow down to village too.

Some more fresh snow this morning with the resort reporting 10-15cm since the report yesterday, I'm seeing less - but there is fresh out there! It should be a very good late March weekend.

How about this then! Snow is falling and there's a nice 10+cm blanket of fresh snow across the mountain.

I am writing my report this morning from.... Tokyo, so I'm going on what I have been told on the phone and what the official website is saying this morning.

Fresh snow to report this morning and also the official snow depth at Yamabiko going up to 400cm. Excellent! Not bad at all.

Lots of cloud around this morning with earlier light snow now easing off.

I was a bit shocked - in a good way - to see the resort reporting up to 25cm of fresh snow this morning on the top area of the mountain.

And it's a good start to the weekend. Up to 10cm of snowfall on mountain yesterday morning and some more overnight gives us 10-30cm across the mountain since my report yesterday and I am measuring 16cm here near base.

Some more snow this morning with 6-8cm being reported up top and just a few cm down here at base so far.
