Very light snow is falling and the forecast is for this to ease off and the day to be cloudy, with snow resuming to fall late evening.

After riding out an unseasonably warm spell across Hokkaido the snow has returned.

The cold weather has returned and it is a wintery -6c in town at 8am.

There has been some new snow overnight and it has been enough to allow the resort to reopen today.

Furano was hit with heavy rain and mild temperatures yesterday.

Furano Ski Resort will open for the 2021/22 season today!

It has been snowing heavily overnight and there is a whopping 45cm of new snow since the last report at base level of the resort.

Temperatures stayed low yesterday and there were some light snowfalls over the last couple of days but nothing significant.

Today was the planned opening of Furano Ski Resort for winter 2021-22.

The good news is the first accumulation of snowfall in the ski village has occurred overnight.

Furano Ski Resort has a tentative opening date of Saturday 20 November.
