Furano Ski Resort has a tentative opening date of Saturday 20 November.
Yesterday there were a few bursts of snow flakes and this morning the Kitanomine village had a light dusting of snow that settled on cars.
The mountain itself also got more of dusting than a true snowfall, and significantly more will be needed before opening.
The good news is that more snow is forecast at high elevations during the week. At town level this is likely to be rain.
