Furano was hit with heavy rain and mild temperatures yesterday. The rain persisted through the day and washed away most of the snow from around the village.
The lower slopes of the ski area were transformed from white, back to mostly grass, and the rain also had an impact on the upper mountain. As a result the ski area is closed today and will reassess conditions this evening.
Temperatures this morning are back to wintery norms for this time of year. It is -5c in town and the high will stay below freezing. There has been some light snowfall with 2cm of accumulation on the ground at the bottom of the mountain. Further snow is expected through today but there is a strong chance of rain tomorrow.
Kitanomine Zone closed.
Furano Zone closed.
