miteyak 0
Some men go their whole lives hopping from bar to bar and ney get in a scrap of trouble. Others can't even go snowboarding without engaging in a round of fisticuffs. What makes some men 'Fist Magnets"?
nagoid 4
Lack of intelligence. Need to prove ego. Some deep-down problem.
damian 0
f*ckin hell mate. I just typed out an A4 page response to Barok's recent post on this topic. I then decided not to post it and deleted it. Then you ask the same question. I am not typing it again. In summary: I have been a fist magnet during the periods in my life when I have been perceived as a threat to another guys ego. If you just cruise and don't pose a threat then usually there is no fist in ya gob. From my experience and observations, threats to another guys ego include: - having a good body (when the other guy also aspires to have a good body), - having a nice girlfriend, - looking like you are happy and having fun without trying to be a poser, this always makes a poser who is having no fun get all fisty. - being a big guy often attracts the fist from other big guys (there is only room for one big guy in each bar). The big guy needs to eliminate physical competition. Big guys seldom pick on little guys. But if you are big, you are fair game. - being around drunk people. Not all ( in fact, almost none) of these reasons apply to me. However all of them depend on my premise that as a general rule, men are dickheads. ps - this thread sounds like a porno title. Ocean11 0
Names beginning with a 'B' seem to be something of an irritant. Even for Japanese ski patrol it seems. I've found having friends with no common sense to be the main thing that attracts the attention of knuckle players.

rach 1
What is it with blokes and egos? Just quit it, ok - that'd be much more attractive.
Siren 0
That wasn't ego - that was confidence.

I've never (as stated before) got into a fight, and have most definitely fit the above bill on plenty of occasions. I think it's more a case of people thinking you're a poser, but having not the goods to back it up. Talk softty- I may have the goods, but, hell, i'm a nice guy, I may even buy you a beer... Carry a big stick- touch me and i'll kill ya... It's obviously easier the bigger the stick, but at the end of the day, if you have a small stick, BE NICER. Agro often turns nasty when smaller guys decide they aren't going to be intimidated (whether they are being or not) and go out of their way to prove this point. Now THAT's a magnet. Big guys get it from other big guys... urban myth. Some big guys are so obviously softies, and can be easy brownie points, but generally big guys steer clear of each other, or, often, so it seems, try to be friends with other big guys. Small guys, again, however, trying to prove themselves can be the biggest pain in the arse...

Now THAT's a magnet. I agree with that bit. But I stand by the fact that an immature idiot who has their ego threatened as a result of, but not limited to, the factors I listed will usually find an excuse to get aggro, but only if they think they have a chance of coming out on top. You are obviously so HUGE that no one would ever even think it. In my past I have known some seriously very big steroid types. Some of the biggest in the country. I have also known and been friends with one or two class winners of national natural body building events. My thoughts do not apply to all of them, but a generalisation was that ego competition made them grumpy and often led to push and shove, but nothing more.

I wouldn't be surprised if these guys didn't have the ego to go with their size, and thus, any fights came to them because they were being assholes, not because they were big. mikazooki 0
awright, i'll set this straight... i knew a hyoooge guy (100kg region) in scotland, quite softly spoken in private, but a scarred face and fists, and up on his second assualt charge. had some affiliation with selling illicit substances. and a wee little fella in perth, pretty stocky, known round the burbs for his toughness, and fought each and every weekend and more often won. so u see fist magnets come in all shapes and sizes. case proven. anyone wishing to disagree, can meet me out near the bike racks. mogski 0
I would just like to say as a big guy, interms of height, I have never been predjudice to small people. I think it is downright rude. They cannot help being small. I have told them often to grow up though.
Ocean11 0
At uni I went with my girlfriend to stay with some friends of hers. These friends lived with a notoriously violent bloke who had punched all of them at one time or another. He was a nasty piece of work, and well 'ard. But as he was away, and was expected to be away for a while, we were offered his bed to sleep in, which we did, although his permission had not been asked in advance for this liberty. Imagine my discomfort when the light came on at 2 am with Phil the C*nt standing in the doorway with his pencil moustache twitching with anger at finding naked strangers in his bed when he came back unexpectedly. Picture my further discomfort when I hear my stupid girlfriend screaming, "Hit him Ocean, quickly hit him!!" Now how diplomatic is that? There was actually no fight as I apologized quicksmart and engaged Phil the C*nt in an interesting discussion about what a burden girlfriends can be. So let's not ignore the role the girls can play in all this...
miteyak 0
Perfect example there from Ocean of humility, charm and intelligence winning the day. I once had a girlfriend at Uni who thought she could get more attention from me by dancing with a large pack of rugger buggers... I decided that the girl checking me out at the bar was the way to go...
