I seem to get asked this every winter in Japan.... what's your fave winter food, etc?

 

I always come up with nabe and the like. I can't think of many "winter foods". Anyone got any more imaginative answers to help me out?

I was in a 7-11 last weekend in Nagano, and they had the udon next to the counter.

 

I took a look and counted 3 hairs, a small piece of tissue and what looked like flakes of skin floating about in a dishwater-type foggy stew. mmmmm, Lovely.
