rach 1
Anyone remember this a while back? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/3242136.stm
Siren 0
I didn't know they found the body.
Dokumanju 0
isn't it interesting that there's no murder charge. I'm like, WTF!?!?!?!?!?!
IIIII 2
It was all chopped up wasn't it?
Stefan 0
Would I be right in suggesting that of the cases that go to trial in Japan some really high percentage like 90% are found guilty? I'm sure I read that somewhere.
snobee 0
In Fact - 99%+. Nice to know we're protected & supported by the ablest blues in the world.
Siren 0
I attended a Ministry of Justice meeting two years ago and one of the officials there told me the acquittal rate (at that time) was around 3.8% (if I remember correctly).
snobee 0
I've also heard that the initial acquital rate is 3-5%, but with the prosecutors in Japan hell bent on appeal to higher courts (because they can't be seen to be wrong or to save face), successful prosecutions round out to a nice 99. Siren 0
These days the success rate of solving crime/arrest has fallen alarming unfortunately.
Glen Falting 0
Those figures are great unless there is some sort of misunderstanding or you're simply not guilty of the crime. The police here can hold and interegate people for quite a long time, without proper acess to legal counsel or independant translators.
