miteyak 0
marantz DVD players are region 2, but the codes are available on the net to change them to any region as you desire. for models and codes go here http://homepage1.nifty.com/dvd9/Marantz.html Several friends have these, and rate them highly. fukdane 2
I have a JVC multi-region - got it off www.rakuten.co.jp - I'm happy with it.
rachael 0
I have a fairly cheap JVC multi region as well. Its ok, especially with US discs, but UK Pal discs aren't perfect. No real problems, just wobbly lines at the top and bottom at times. Is that a common problem? Are these things actually legal?
miteyak 0
Yes, they are legal I believe. However, I'd be surprised if what the DVD/manu industry are doing is. Must surely come under 'collusive olligopoly' status, thus illegal. All region programmable DVDs (code selectable) may have the advantage of playing a few DVDs that won't play on a region free. These are region specific, and need an exact region programmed to play.
BigSausage 0
Mine is fine with all regions - no noticeable difference. Its a Marantz too.
indosnm 0
Cheers guys! MITEYAK!Is that model the DV4300 model? Do you have to go thru the process of changing regions every time you watch a different region OR can you just do it when you set it up the first time & whack in any region DVD?? miteyak 0
Friends have an older model, so not sure. Did you hit the link? Applies to all models on the link. You have to select the region each time you change. I have a cheapo (costco) one 9200 yen, no changes needed, no probs, Korean brand, LP I think. The Marantz is better however. A Very Boring Man 0
Did you get a new one in the end there? I'm going to get one soon, I'd be interested to know what you found out.
indosnm 0
didn't get one in the end because my PS2 played the DVD's that I got. You can get some real cheap chinese or korean ones on yahoo.
