Ocean11 0
> WASHINGTON - A small plane strayed within three miles of the White House on Wednesday, leading to frantic evacuation of the executive mansion and the Capitol with military jets scrambling to intercept the aircraft and firing flares to steer it away. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/capital_alert We hear a lot of about 'freedom' and 'liberty' these days - nobody can forget those words. But words such as 'bravery' and 'cowardice' aren't heard much these days. > Police, rushing to get House Minority leader Nancy Pelosi out of the building, lifted her out of her shoes. Hmmmm, I think once you get into lifting out of the shoes territory, you have to start wondering if precautionary measures haven't gone too far and cowardice has got a grip. Yuki's Passion 1
Thats funny. I thought the White House has a missile defense system on it?? If so, wonder why they didnt launch? Plane came pretty close.

sunrise 0
pity they couldn't get their scrambler jets up and running that quickly in September 2001. (dont mind me, I'm just a conspiracy believer).
miteyak 0
As the pilot on the news this morning pointed out... now they have a mandate from the people to shoot down unarmed civilian aircraft... The message sent as 2500+ staff rushed out of the building wasn't lost on a red-faced security adviser either. He certainly thought everyone should have stayed inside, and questioned just how tough the world's only superpower looked to the outside world. He didn't use the word 'cowards', but you could tell he wanted to... America... scared of it's own shadow (somewhat ironic, considering the shadow cast by America is probably amongst the largest threats posed to global security)
Curt 1
I hope they will be bombing some foreign country now. Which one I wonder? Janken perhaps?

Ocean11 0
A rather elegant commentary on this inelegant episode. Mr Lind obviously hasn't forgotten those old words...
