SerreChe 2
pre or post-season Tsonda, I am always keen. I have tried to go 2-3 times already, but everytime at the last moment something came up with either work or family. I am hoping to strike gold this with tateyama this season. Let's keep an eye on how the season evolves. Is there an official opening date for murodo this year? Last season was frustrating. I wanted to do Tenjin's & Charmant's BC and could not manage to do either...
dizzy 0
the official date is usually in mid nov. national park so they will probably NOT let you on the alpine route w/ equipment. i plan on camping there for the long thanksgiving weekend.
SerreChe 2
Thanks for the info Dizzy. I assume the thanksgiving weekend is gonna be fairly busy. I have to start looking at my handy dandy calendar to see what lies ahead in terms of days off. I have always wondered whether it would be possible during the winter to do a raid of a few days climbing via the closed road. Conditions must be fairly nasty up there in the winter, but given the right equipment....
tsondaboy 0
I was talking about pre-season for the time being. FT was telling me that in the spring is also nice up there, but its to early to make plans from now. When is thanksgiving?

tsondaboy 0
When I say one day, I mean sleep over at hakuba, hike up early in the morning and come down in the afternoon. I have a winter sleeping bag, but I don't have all the gear you need to camp up there. Is there a shelter up the top?

SerreChe 2
That's quite a trek, especially if it is 20km of waist deep-powder with snowshoes. Would need a couple skiers to break trail. Unlikely I would do it, but nice to dream.
tsondaboy 0
PS, I am trying to buy a splitboard befor the snow arrives.
