danc72 0
It has been reported that Russia has had it's warmest December on record. Does this have any effect on weather systems that hit Japan?
big-will 7
Yes I've been hearing a lot about that too. They're walking around in t-shirts rather than those big cool hats and massive fur coats they have on in the movies. Something is having an effect on the weather systems here with the lovely (not) weather we are being treated to right now!

thursday 1
yes, El Nino apparently: http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/7268.html But Siberia would be cold enough to dry out those winds for them to pickup the sea moisture to dump on Hokkaido. cal 6
Well Hokkaido has been getting snow hasn't it? Just maybe not as much as usual but it seems to be much more open than Honshu.
bushpig 0
our school trip went to Rusutsu last week and they said there was snow aplenty! (and Hong Konese aplenty! )
merryJim 1
Why is that place seemingly so popular with guests from Hong Kong? (Or is that image I have of it mistaken?)
r45 4
It has been for a while not exactly sure why but the links are well established.
thursday 1
It's pop 'cos there's a very large hotel there and it can accomodate several tours at a time. The sad part is that the tours are a "Hokkaido see it all" for 5 days, so there is like one afternoon of skiing time and then they are carted off back to Otaru (which happens to be an old Russian port, so still some thread relevance here) for some novelty shopping and then back to Sapporo.
