Guest
We are in HK and hoping to go to Japan in January. Shiga Kogen looks like a really big area and I was wondering what people thought the best part of it was. We are a group of (lower?) intermediate skiers and a couple of beginner boarders. Thanks. BigSausage 0
For the skiers, then probably the part with Yakebitaiyama and Okushiga is the best bet. The boarders won't be allowed on the Okushiga area though...
Ocean11 0
Yakebitayama and nearby Ryuo are popular with boarders. I had a lot of fun at Ryuo as a beginner.

Ocean11 0
Don't think so. They are on the same mountain though maybe. Well 'ard scouser like yourself could yomp between the two...
LiquidX 0
They're not connected (or at least they weren't) - one the same mtn, but quite a way from each other probably in reality. Ryou faces Kijimadaira doesn't it?
Ocean11 0
http://map.yahoo.co.jp/pl?nl=36.47.7.811&el=138.27.15.984&la=0&fi=1&sc=6 If you go to the map above, you can see the layout. The red cross and circle marks Ryuo. Yakebitayama 1960 is the triangle to the east of that, and the resort is on the east side of that. And indeed, that appears to be Kijimadaira-mura to the west in the direction in which Ryuo faces.
