Tubby Beaver 209
I do that as well.....tense right up in the chair till it almost contorts me....then consciously have to relax before it happens all over again

Mick Rich 78
Me too!! Going in for a root canal on a rear tooth tomorrow happy to have it done as it has been cracked and painful for years so fingers crossed they get all 3 nerves if not It will have to be a specialist and that hurts the pocket as well. Don't want it removed as it stuffs all your other teeth up and a replacement is expensive How did you get on seemore?
snowdude 44
Nothing really bothers me, and I don't worry about anything, but damn that dentist, every time I go I am a tense as hell, because I always know what is coming, PAIN!!!!!
Alexander L 80
You can stop acting so macho now. There is no pain. Such is modern technology. My dentist told me I needed an injection so he could get to work on some complicated stuff. He rubbed the gum area with some gel and then did the injection. I asked him when was he gonna do it and he answered it was already done. I felt nothing, and I was conscious all the time. Pain killing gel then injection, then procedure, took less than 20 minutes. He said I could do with a wisdom pull on the left: Too many wise cracks.
snowdude 44
I am very un-macho when it comes to the dentist, I really do get pain when ever they do drilling or any thing like that. The fact is the pain killing injection stuff they use doesn't work on me, even with modern day technology!
Tubby Beaver 209
And with the Jspanese medical professions usual course of action to under prescribe pain killing drugs, Im guessing the dental profession to be just as stingy with the heavy hitting pain killers
Alexander L 80
oh for ****ing sake, modern technology means there is no drilling for teeth cleansing, it's all done with water and salt crystals and then ultra sound. They are just prolonging the useful life of their torture equipment.
seemore 66
Yeah great I was in for 45minutes I asked for extra needles as normal but she removed all three nerves and filled it in 1 visit. I can chew with the left hand side of my mouth for the 1st time in years all good and only cost $80 over and above private health cover cover. so without it would have cost $180 took me awhile before I found the right Dentist though . Chriselle 158
I think the sound is more "painful" than any actual...pain. That F'ing drill reverberates right to your soul....
Go Native 70
I've still yet to have any dental procedure done on my teeth besides basic check ups and cleaning. I haven't been to the dentist in a few years now though. Might be time for a check up.

Yes I think it's this. The anticipation of pain. And if they suddenly hit a nerve for a tiny, it just escalates. Shudder just thinking about it all.
