onehunga 26
Yes there is a test to be a Aussie (cue for posts on what you feel the test should be) and apparently Kiwis trying for Aussie citizenship are some of the worst at passing it. "applicants from Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland, France and Switzerland average over 97 per cent in the test, New Zealanders applying for citizenship average only 72.6 per cent" You need to get 75% to pass, if you want to try a practice test the link is here: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/quizzes/news/quiz.cfm?c_id=1502918&qna_id=1805 I got 19/20 which given that Kiwis in Aus taking the test only average 14/20 gives some validation to Robert Muldoons statement "NZers moving to Australia raise the average IQ of both countries" :-)

JA2340 16
Sorry, WVS, you fail! None of your answers are correct - back to the salt mines you go! Me, however, as an "older" and "wiser" Australian by birth, scored 20/20. That means I qualify to be an Australian Citizen - WooHoo!!
kokodoko 67
I got 18/20. The legal and constitutional ones got me.. it would be a difficult test for a non-english speaking person. edit. what i meant was english not a first language.
Alexander L 80
I would be devastated if I failed the test

hellyer 216
That oral test is the easy bit The hardest part for many new immigrants is the other oral test - swallowing a vegemite sanga
onehunga 26
That oral test is the easy bit The hardest part for many new immigrants is the other oral test - swallowing a vegemite sanga I used to drive tour coaches in NZ, and always remined the passengers, especially the Japanese, that the little sachets of black stuff on the breakfast table wasn't chocolate. Always got a few who didn't listen and piled a whole sachet of vegemite or marmite on their toast, then took a bite, but only ever one bite.
JA2340 16
Yeah, you just cannot buy good taste, can you! And, just FYI, there's a vast, vast difference between Vegemite (the real deal) and Marmite (a pommy abomination to food flavours)
RobBright 35
19/20 - but most of the questions are common sense, which most Australians lack.
