i cut a pair of old school racing skiis down way back in the day (actually, truth be told my dad did most the work.. har har har laugh it up) . anyway, it felt like skiing on toothpicks. no real balance in the air. landing them in powder was totally impossible, but landing them on hard pack killllled my knees. verdict? you're better off skiing on your boots, cuz then you wouldn't be able to ski at all, meaining you won't need knee braces within a week of using the cut down ones. (ok, it wasn't THAT bad)

Short skis are good for walking with. Pity is, they're crap when you strap them on. They're also good for whacking people over the head with - you don't need a whole lot of space to do it, as you need with normal sized skis.

Hurrah for snowboards!
