Course - to me means a run.

piste - is a marked area for skiing or snowboarding, hence off piste being out of the marked area.

gelande - to me means the same as a piste.

On gelaende, or off-piste? smile

ゲレンデ is obviously prevalent around these parts. For spelling, I assumed it was from "Gelände," but because my keyboard lacks an umlaut, I cannot write "Gelände" and just write "gelaende."

Also, I, uh, have no Shift key, so cannot put a capital G at the beginning of the word... shifty

Ok, so my excuses are getting kind of thin. ashamed

But hey, growing up they were just called "ski areas."

I blame society.

Not here, no.

コース and ゲレンデ is what you see.

To me piste means groomed. Off-piste just means somewhere that wasn't groomed. Course means route that has been marked on the map and may be groomed or not.
