This one's not quite a remake, but seems more than a remix. In any event, I deem it Good, and I'm not usually a big fan of sampling:

gerard 6
Tears for fears Bowie remake is good too. Sounds incredibly like Bowie for the first couple of lines. Reminds me of these. And this

pie-eater 207
I bet you have an interesting record/cd collection Mr Wiggles. Actually always fun to see other peoples collections and what goes with what, etc.

NoFakie 45
Old blues/soul tune innit. The Beatles did a version too. Step On by the Mondays is a cover too, though some folks don't know. Just for Pie-eater, here's some pork pie-hat music for pie (and Betty's hotpot) eating people.
pie-eater 207
Thank you Mr Wiggles. Not my type of sounds, but it's the thought that counts.

Who was the original artist?
NoFakie 45
Hey no worries Pie Eater. Hope I didn't put you off a pie! Here you go Tubby. It's better with the pianos though. Of course there's nothing stopping bands remaking their own songs. Recorded by Steve Albini, seemingly in a tin can like most of Surfer Rosa. B-side of Monkey Gone to Heaven I think it was. Now this is the Pixies!
Tubby Beaver 209
wow Mr Wiggles! That was actually pretty cool. I agree that the pianos in the Monday's one is definitely better. Some good guitar riffs in there and a weird Bee Gees meets the Mondays moment!!
big-will 7
Do they mention twising of melons in the original?

Tubby Beaver 209
always liked Oasis's version better than the Beatles
@tokyo 14
I was watching the Oasis best of videos dvd with the commentary on over the weekend. Noel talking through all but two of the videos (all his songs). Hilarious it was. He is actually pretty funny. And very honest. Worth a listen if you like Oasis, or perhaps even if you don't really. Metabo Oyaji 71
Ah yes, 女åå二楽åŠ. Never got into their covers (esp. that SMAP one), though their (original?) flagship song, 自由, was insanely catchy. Here's a remake that seems to be playing every time I go to the local convenience store. I still prefer the original, but it's not bad:
