ILoveZao 8
I never had a cheese fondue meal. When I look at descriptions, sometimes it says only bread into cheese/wine but sometimes potatoe and also meat. I want to know what might be best or really authentic one as I would like to try it. Did you have one? Can you tell me about it? Thank you
grungy-gonads 54
Actually never had one but I am very curious.
HelperElfMissy 42
I have had authentic fondue in switzerland and I have made fondue at home. I will dig out a recipe when I get home on Monday and post it if no-one does it before me. Good cheese is essential - and usually more than one type makes for a very yummy fondue. Into the cheese fondue it is traditional to dip bread and pickles. But I have also dipped vegetables (raw) like broccoli and cauliflower, as well as sliced green apple. You dip the raw meat into either an oil fondue or a broth fondue.

RobBright 35
no - shabu-shabu uses broth. its more like kushiage. my recipe 350ml dry white wine, ie Sauvignon Blanc 300g Gruyère cheese, grated 300g Emmental cheese, grated 3 tsp cornflour 2-3 tbsp Kirsch Freshly ground black pepper some people had garlic - I prefer not to. you can also use vacherin or appenzeller, hell even comte would be ok. But please please PLEASE don't think cheddar works.
