me jane 0
You shouldn't leave snow types on all year cos they aren't designed for non-snow conditions. They are much more dangerous on wet rainy roads than normal tyres. They are more expensive too so it makes sense to wear out the cheaper ones in summer.
Tubby Beaver 209
Can someone tell me how the snow tyres differ to normal tyres? (I don't drive so have no idea)
jcpops864 0
hi Tubby Beaver, this article should give you more info: http://cars.about.com/od/adviceforowners/a/snowtires.htm
telehugh 0
2 Man for each tyres and if it's your first pair you'll also need 4 hubs at around 1 Man each. Gulp
snowdude 44
Not cheap, My normal tyres cost 3 man per tyre, hate to think what my winter tyres will cost when it's time to renew them. ouch! I do recommend buying the rims too if you can, because it means you can change the wheels yourself each time. Takes me 20 mins tops to do 4 wheels. No need to pay garage fees to change the tyres each year and less chance of damage to the rims, especially alloys. One thing though like wattie above said winter tyres or studless are useless on icebound roads especially icebound covered in snow. Otherwise excellent in the snow!
ShinyDiscoBall 2
Yep looking at around 10 man for the set. If you are staying for a while and live there though, it's a no-brained I'd have thought.
IwateKen 0
I think it is irresponsible for people living in snow area to not have the tyres. It is dangerous for other people as well as yourself.
