Babelfish also does a reasonable job - but eldest son is much more accurate.

We have got many bases covered in our house - Papabear speaks french, two eldest speak Japanese, I have a little italian and work as an interpreter in deaf sign language - so if all else fails body language get's us through.

I think she's onto it by keeping it simple. That's my philosophy after many years working as a copywriter.

There's a whole website devoted to non-Asian people who get kanji tatoos. I don't like kanji tats, but if I were to get one, I'd do it properly, but I guess ignorance can be bliss.
