echineko 1
I was wonder when you living in Japan how many friends you have are Japanese or other foreigners in community? I know a few people here from US and UK. One has only Japanese friends, I think he is his choice. The other is like opposite, with only few Japanese friends. How about you? Tubby Beaver 209
I'm mostly gaijin friends. I have some J-friends but not as much as gaijin friends. It isn't any particular choice, its just the way it has panned out.
indosnm 0
I'd say mainly Japanese. Got a good network of gaijin friends and my best mate was Japanese. I just avoid english school students as friends..
scouser 4
Half half here, though lately more Japanese I suppose. Some of the best friends I have ever had are here, and Japanese.
66jzmstr 0
When I was in Japan, it was mostly Japanese friends for me.
muikabochi 208
Mostly Japanese here. There's a lot more of them than gaijin where I live!
abe 0
Mostly foreigners when I was living in Japan, and barely any of the Japanse friends I had were my age (most much older). I guess I was just lazy and existed within the gaijin bubble.
Go Native 70
Plenty of Japanese aquaintences but none who are really good friends. Most of the friends I hang out with regularly are gaijin.
Ezorisu 0
Almost entirely Japanese (what few friends I've got).
js 0
I have a few acquaintences, but none that I'd call 'friends'. So, Echi, you want to be my only Japanese-Lady friend?
xxx 2
Almost all Japanese. The foreigners that I work near are all, how can I say, jerks.
me jane 0
It seems to change year by year, when I was working JET and eikaiwa I had more foreign friends than now. I think it's good to have a mix of both but I don't really think about it when I make new friends. Whether I like the person or not is more important. I think that people who make friends based on nationality are missing out on a lot of potentially good friends. Also with only friends from one group you miss out on a part of the whole living in Japan thing. I have met a few forigners who reject all other foreigners and make a conscious effort to only have Japanese friends. Weird.
