HighlyTrainedNovaTeacher 2
I'm going to be buying a new desktop soon. Noticed a friend of mines fairly new one (it's a Dell) seems really noisy. I'm not keen on that, but not sure why it is so noisy and if all computers are now, what with all their sugoi power. Are there brands that are more noisy than others, or is it something in the specs I should be looking out for?
its-a-clock 0
For what its worth, my Dell desktop isn't noisy (apart from when you start it up)
bobby12 0
The noise usually comes from the fan or the hard drive - get a hard drive with fast rpm or a processor/fan combo that is known to be quite if this is an issue. i think there is even a website called quietpcs.com or something that specializes in this. gamera 0
I think now some pcs cool down the cpu by water power instead of a fan to make the noise less. HTNV - ask staffs if they had suireishiki computer ( a computer which cool down the cpu by water ). Make sure if it's quietter than one with a fan. Good luck
bobby12 0
There are also new style hard drives that record data more efficiently so they take less revolutions to do the job = less noise.
r45 4
I have a dell and it is fine. The fan sometimes gets noisy for a short while but soon seems to settle down.
big-will 7
The computers I have also seem to just be noisy when they're starting up or a few other times when I'm asking them to do a lot of thinking. A nice silent one would be good for the living room.

viv&kev 0
Ours was quite noisy so we stuck it under the table inside a cabinet. Can't hear it now!
