  1. Dizzy, I must admit I never even heard of eVent... will check it out at work tomorrow. I guess I am coming around to what you're saying there Loon... what does Kuma have? It's Arc'teryx isn't it? I have liked all of their stuff that I have seen so far.
  2. None of the Janus acrobatics for us? Nice TR though for sure.
  3. Dizzy, didn't realise it was that bad. But sounds like you are on top of it. I hope it heals up clean for you. Okemoloon, I should have taken a day off today to... practice my new route-finding skills. Although in seriousness I would actually have liked to have done that, as well as get some turns out.
  4. Nice report! Definitely want to see more stuff like this. Will make one myself once I escape from the pit.
  5. I had always intended to get some proper gear for BC hikes and the like, but spending half my time on Sunday taking my bulky padded jacket on and off and trying to cram it into my pack has made me think I should actually do something about it. I would rather pay more to get something that will basically be the last shell I need until it falls apart. Something that will be adequate for anything I might want to do. Obviously that will be overwhelmingly stuff in Japan, but also in theory expeditions further afield to Europe, North and South America etc. At the moment it's a bit of a pipe dre

Personally, it seems less traumatic to take a pill than have an operation, although obviously neither are exactly ideal.

You gotta measure it with a rope... Looks like you guys had a good time.
  8. I don't think people would be keen to ski in those conditions. Last saturday was like that so we stayed in the park at 47. Most other people in Hakuba seemed to be taking it easy as well. Managing the safety by keeping away from the area since we didn't know any better.
  9. So Sasutan, still interested in splitting a ride? I don't know if you're still hanging around here. Would gladly share costs with anyone going down this weekend, otherwise I'll master the train.
  10. You beasts... Looking ahead, do you think there's any point me taking a day off on Monday to get in some actual skiing since I won't be able to ski over the weekend because of the RAC course? I wouldn't want to take it unless it's likely to be pretty good. Any early predictions?

I didn't land anything that felt even slightly bad on Sat (no matter how it may have looked!). I think this is like when I got an inflamed rotator cuff - once the original injury sets in, movements that would not n

Were you testing that theory about English men Tsonda?
  15. Yes it does. Unfortunately it seems that now I have it the muscles/tendons are all sensitive, and any skiing is going to set it off - on Saturday we barely did any skiing and certainly nothing strenuous that had me jerking around, but it was still pretty agonising on Sunday. I am just going to try and heal it up with anti-inflammatories and ice, and then try and keep forward forward forward from now on so that I don't make it happen again. You, Stunts and Dan have all given me hints which while I knew in theory was good to be reminded of, so should be able to make progress. Probably best
  16. I discovered what's wrong with my legs - I have "shin bang". I've spent the day with big gel cooling pouches strapped to my legs. I think it plays off the pinstripe suit look pretty well.
  17. Haha, you really got the goods it seems. Can't beat local knowledge. I didn't hear Ewok snoring... was I snoring on Saturday night? I don't normally but I was so full of good wine and good food that I might have made an exception...
  18. I can't see the pics because ze scum at work have blocked them but I will check when I get home, I never have a prob with FT's pics. But I don't have to see them all because I was there! Two days of perfection at the weekend, it's like every time I go skiing at Hakuba I have THE BEST SKI WEEKEND OF MY LIFE. Each time better than the last. The stuff that I was doing over new year in Hokkaido now seems mundane and dull, and at this rate I'll be looking back at the last couple weekends realising that I have come on since then (whilst still acknowledging the incredible fun I had of course!).
  19. I was using Dan's Canon G7, just set on auto. I have absolutely zero skills so it's a testament to the technology that they came out even half decent.

  22. Have you got the shot of me just making a turn in the trees (shot by Dan)? Nothing special but I quite liked it. Anyway, not in any kind of rush.
  23. Like doing squats but without all the equipment... you won't get super strong but is great conditioning. I felt the difference in my kendo (the reason I did them) and skiing (incidental). Mock as you like!
