  1. I have booked Bulkhead seats on Jetstar Star Class but if they are needed for kids we miss out. One thing that I have found funny is JAL and Qantas both no longer fly Sydney to KIX so I am on the Qantas Jetstar flight, as I am in Star Class I get Busines Class One World Frequent Flyer points. I call JAL for the connecting flight to Saporro and they tell me if I had flown a One World Airline they could sell me a ticket at a reduced price but they can not for Jetstar passengers. I asked how am I meant to achieve that when no One World carrier does SYD to KIX any longer and surely if I
  2. The Perth Snow Park was a great concept, some years back a friend of mine and I did a feasability study into converting an 11 storey car park in the midle of Perth into a ski slope, unfortunatly every model we used came to the same conclusion, we would make more money leaving it as a car park.
  3. Hi Seemore I am an ex Sandgropper myself, moved to NSW ten years ago for work and to be close to the snow of course. I am making my fourth trip to Japan next year and while I am kinda over Niseko as I am heading out to other areas, it is an excellent introduction to Japan, niseko is easy to get around from, there is great bus services to the town of Kutchan from the welcom centre each evening andthere are taxi's and free shuttle bus between the various resort towns. Most people stay in Hirafu but you may want to stay close to the lifts because what the maps don't show is its built
  4. My family have always worn helmets, we had the kids in them very early and all of us have had cases we would have been a lot worse off without one, to us wearing the helmet is as natural as putting on gloves, its just part of the gear , its also so much easier to keep warm yet on warm days you never get hot. Way more Aussies than Japanese wear helmets, in fact at Niseko and Rusutsu I would say the vast majority of helmets were on aussie skiers, most likely its due to the cover in Australia being so much harder but I would encourage all skiers to wear one. It won't help in every c
  5. OK one that will not fall in the is shit category has to be the Greatest Rock n Roll band in the world KISS. On stage they deliver an amazing show.
  6. Thats what Rose did to Charlie on Three and a Half Men, must be where they got the idea.
  7. was terrible to hear about the 16 YO girl at Thredbo on the weekend, really sad, she hit a tree and was killed instantly. I was at Perisher on Saturday and it was very crowded with some pretty fast conditions on some runs, unfortunatly those conditions do tend to increase the chances of such an event. Our thoughts to her family, always sad to lose a skier, worse when they are so young.
  8. I prefer a little more certainty than that, I would hate to arrive then find out it was booked out already.
  9. OK JR Rail tell me that tickets for the Twilight Express from Sapporo to Osaka can only be bought in Japan and not from OS. Does anyone here know an agent that may buy a ticket for me and my wife. It does look like it could be a fantastic way to end our holiday traveling back to Osaka.
  10. Your right, I am flying into Osaka and looked at the Twilight Express, looks a well worthwhile trip. Trouble is all the forums say it sells out fast and JR Rail tel me you can not buy tickets from out side of Japan. Its a lot easier travling around in other countries, I am finding it is getting harder each time I visit to organises transport. I spoke with JAL yesterday and they told me if I flew in on JAL or Qantas they could sell me a domestic ticket, I told them I was on Jetstar (a Qantas Airline) and they said no thats not recognised. But here is the interesting thing, I am o
  11. JAL and Qantas Code share now which is fine as they are reasonably close in the service stakes ( as long as you don't get one of JAL's older 747's without a personal entertainment system). Both however have greatly reduced their flights to Sydney and Jetstar has taken over most of the Qantas runs, I am flying there next yoear on Jetstar but in their Star Class so that is OK.

  13. I generally book in at the Airport because of my FF Status, this often leads to upgrades or better seating. I was upgraded at Christmas from economy to Premium Economy when I few to the US wiith the family, they certainly enjoyed the additional comfort.
  14. We were traveling to Hiroshyma and got off the Shink and my Son realised he had left his camera in the seat, he was shattered as it had three weeks of photo's on it. We spoke to the JR staff at the station and they phoned the train and told us the camera had already been found, I told them we were heading to Miyajima Island and could collect it when we returned two dyas later but she took the hotel details and organised the camera to be sent to my hotel, it arrived the following morning. It arrived in a box that when we opened it, the camera was suspended in the middle with tape like
  15. Looking on the JAL site it says you can only buy tickets 2 months before the flight date, is this correct, I find it hard to believe when I book tikets much further out than this any where else. As I am booking things like car hire and accommodation etc I would feel a lot happier having the flight booked. Another option I considered was train, is there a sleeper cab train still running to Hokkaido. Could be very romantic.
  16. I am down 9.3kg now so things are going well. Its a long journey losing weight but I am in a really good frame of mind this time, I want to be super fit for my Japan trip next year.
  17. I believe the growth of boarding has ceased but there is little to say its in a decline, with the development of twin tip ski's to the level that they are today, many are finding they can do more on them and this area is in growth.
  18. No worries, how about day trips from Tomamu then, I might give Rusutsu a miss, been there done that. Is it the case that Japanese domestic air fares are only available 2 months before the flight, I have to fly from Osaka to Sapporo and return with ski bags etc.
  19. That was made in Australia. Real babies and CGI combined
  20. The sight of your wife pregnant is a very special and wonderful thing, I can see how you would want pictures, I know we have some.
  21. My trip next year will have skiing and not so skiing stops, I am looking for somewhere between Tomamu and Rusutsu for a night or two stop, any suggestions of nice places to visit. Thanks
