  1. Ive always found it funny (and a little exciting) when a girl asks "do you want to play with me"? not as amusing as when a (japanese) boy asks though. Probably not amusing at all coming from a big black guy i imagine.
  2. im guessing that is what will happen. unlike alot of other businesses, u cant (actually, maybe u can?) just take the main assets and move/sell/use em elsewhere. The lifts, hotels etc would be close to worthless i imagine unless they are all operating in some way. maybe theyll just have to cut down on the skipatrol?!
  3. one of my favourites is "So is New Zealand really the capitol of Australia?" another great one im sure youve all heard... "do u laiku dogsu?" (i always reply that yes, they are very tasty). of course, u can probably blame me for some of their dumb questions...... Its amazing how many believe me when I tell em I work as a 'shooer' in Australia. You know, I stand near the road near the harbour bridge, and shoo the kangaroos away!

  5. btw, I used to love Degrassi Junior High too!!! best thing to come outta Canada, lol!

  7. that doesnt mean its not gunna be bought by another compan dirt cheap and remain open though does it?
  8. dont be a pussy..... go drink some coffee and conquer those mountains!
  9. So, did anyone watch the baseball "world series" this year?
  10. Quote: Originally posted by le spud: Most Australian's go to Niseko so I was curious why you chose not to. You have made a good choice. Just for your info, Niseko has scientifically been declared the flattest ski resort in the world. Australian real estate investors will tell you otherwise. Have fun in Japan anyway, and forget the park. You don't buy a seasons pass to powder mecca to ride a half pipe So you dont count Australian resorts as resorts? No doubt u wouldnt be saying that if youve ever been to Mt Selwyn!! And i disagree with the half-pipe comment. EVERY resort has
  11. hmmm, from memory arent they the same mountain? I did the one with the (brand new) big ropeway during goldenweek a few years back, when all the other resorts were shut due to lack of snow. It was quite surreal, as it felt like summer, and all the koosa (yellow sand) made the snow look like sanddunes (which they practically were!). A mate went once though during winter and almost died in an avalanche, so be very careful as fattwins said.
  12. another thing u can look for is working hours. I managed to get a job that usually started in the afternoon around sapporo, so I was able to go boarding most days b4 work. Had alot of trouble staying awake whilst teaching, but it was worth it imho.
  13. dude, i did exactly what ur talkin about a few years back. Sapporo is a great city to live, all the nightlife is close together, and the mountains not far off either. There r plenty of nearbe crappy resorts, eg Moiwa is the closest (but no boarders). Makomanai is absolutely shithouse, but has a great halfpipe. The only 2 good resorts are Kokusai and Teine - both r very small however, and Teine doesnt get the same snow as other places (and kokusai is flatter than Niseko!) To get to Niseko, u gotta spend 2 1/2 to 3 hours in the bus, or a pesky train ride can also be done. Cost
  14. ya just stirring mate. i cant see any resorts making a cent with a 24 hr resort in Hiroshima... I havent even found a swimming pool in sapporo that opens b4 10am!
  15. awesomness!! Anywayz, i remember a mate of mine got a 3 yr working Visa....once he quit after his 1 yr contract(i took his job!), he moved to Niseko and started working as a freelance photographer - im fairly sure he wasnt sponsored. As my job finishes on the 17th of December (they actually called me last night and said 'oh, ur gunna finish 1 day earlier than your contract original contract said, is that alright?'!!!) that gives me till March 17th anyway, which would probably be enough. If i cant find work, ill prolly just bite the bullet and spend savings the whole time....hopefull
  16. yeah, but what i meant was....is it possible to get a pension, or even an english school to 'sponsor' me, if its not proper full-time work paying 250,000yen? Of course i can work under the table on a tourist visa, which might be what i have to do. What normally happens when someone has finished their job in Japan, how long do u normally get to leave the country?
  17. Im guessing it cant or wont be done for simple weekend work (changing sponsorship that is). The next job would most probably have to be a similar job too, ie not just working for a minshoku or anything. Whats the maximum stay allowed (for an ozzie) if u just want to travel in Japan, 1 or 3 months?
  18. which resorts have good nightas os? I was of the opinion that they rarely (if ever) do nightas outside Japan....no doubt im wrong, but id be interested to hear where! I gotta admit, i was amazed at how much of the mountain is still open at night at Hirafu, i cant imagne they make any money off it.
  19. yeah, but like i said i dont really need a good nighta. Im happy to do the same 200m 5 degree slope again n again n again if it has a nice kicker or something. from what ive read though, the nighta is still better in Nagano than anywhere else in the world.....as they rarely have it at all in most countries.
  20. Quote: Originally posted by Kumapix: just my .02cents. I have heard of businesses calling up immigration if you quit and telling them that you don't work there anymore. This would prob affect your status though. People were saying that it's your visa. I'm not so sure about that. The company is sponsoring you. I think if you get another job then you're fine but otherwise I'd say there's the potential to get your visa cancelled. Especially in these days of 'terror'. yeah, best bet is probably to just tell em Im leaving, that way they wont call up imigration... westgate said i can kee
  21. hmmm, ill have to wait n see what happens re the visa. Anyway, after more hunting n digging around on the site, ive noticed Naeba/Kagura also seems like a v good resort for the 1 season ticket. Are there any good reasons not to go here for a season? And yes, Niseko does indeed have an incredible nighta.....although when i waz there, it lacked any sort of park riding at night (which would b the first thing i opened at night if i owned a resort)
