  1. Anybody going to the conference in Kita Kyushu next weekend?
  2. Did Spud used wimp out and then slink back into the forum. I can't believe it. Did he used to get bullied or something?
  3. Uncle Mantas, Don't let these guys get you down, mate. Here are a few shallow thoughts from ger (which is short for gerwich, my real name -Gerwich Josepe VanBullen (fyi, off topic)) I have a lot of Aussie friends. I did a degree with Macquarie Uni and I have considered living there because it sounds like a great place to live. I think Spud and O11 are great colourful contributors to this forum but I don't take much heed in Spud's anti Oz posts. Not that they're not legitimate-- I just don't particularly care (but then again I'm not Australian). It's easy to either praise or criti
  4. What the hell happened to this thread. It started out quiant but is rapidly turning into a debauchery. OK... Goemon Quote: quote: I'm a popular guy! with other guys. Hey, I just can't help being such a stylish bloke. And nobody should be judging spud for his homosexual tendancies. There's nothing wrong about that. Not that I know anything about homosexual tendancies. But if I did, there would be nothing wrong with that either. Which I don't. And there isn't. All that having been said... Quote: Ger shows imigaination, natural leadership and rational balance [mu
  5. Velvet Underground and Zappa --great music. Zappa wrote volumes and volumes of strange and good music. Are you into that stuff O11? At the moment I've got gerling playing again in my car. (No relation to my name btw.)
  6. Quote: quote: Originally posted by Toque: I think Spud has a man crush I don't hate Ger at all spud. Just a bit of banter is all I'm a popular guy!
  7. Quote: Bollocks! It is entirely his responsibility! OK OK It's true. But give the poor guy a break. He's obviously having a bad day. You should see what he's doing to poor Uncle Mantas... ... in the vegemite thread of all places!
  8. Quote: Ah, but spud, your Work Week in Review thread was much more interesting and, you only have yourself to blame for its loss of interest on your previous post. I think the Friday geek thread is OK, --'OK' as in 'so so'-- but I agree with bp that the Work Week in Review thread was definitely more interesting. To be fair though, I don't think that Spud is the sole reason for its recent lack of interest. Spud's colourful rants are certainly inspiring but I think we all have a responsibility to keep that one going. And not only is it an entertaining thread but it's also functional. For ex
  9. The guy who designed that two person urinal must have had a strange sense of humour. I wouldn't want to be a sales rep selling the product to offices and so on either. I can imagine the sales meetings-- "OK. boys, we've got far too much inventory of the '2-man'. We've got to move this product! ... ..."
  10. I didn't grow up with Vegemite and always found it rather atrocious until one night when a friend cracked some open while playing poker and drinking whiskey. It hit the spot. Vegemite and Johnny Walker. I've liked it ever since.
  11. Sorry to here that, Soub. I can't imagine what it would be like to deal with cancer. Maybe some of us can draw strength from her to get through our own problems--which are so insignificant in comparison.
  12. Quote: gee this one generated a lot of interest spud... Don't be sarcastic bushy. I checked the recent visitors section and Spud's topic is the most visited! This is where all of the cool kids are at, dude! It's just that nobody's actually getting in on the action yet.
  13. Quote: Imagine a surfer that no one has ever seen surf, but he surfs every day. How would he ride waves? 'How' indeed! Very existential, db. If a tree falls in the forest but no one is there to hear, does it still make a sound?
  14. I'm OK with respect to the latter two but I've been growing my hair long since last winter perhaps as a LAST STAND before it falls out (as well as a silent protest against 'THE MAN'!)
  15. I cut em with a pair of Swiss Army knife scissors. I thought I was in the clear but when I hit 30 they started coming out. I wonder what's next.
  16. Many of you will think I'm crazy but I LOVE the heat and humidity... as long as I don't have to work. I miss summer on Shikoku. I don't like this in-between season stuff. Give me heat and humidity or give me snow. Right now it's just too cold to swim and too warm to ski.
  17. The democratic process in this country. As I type there's a panel of experts on TV analyzing Abe's decision to hold his wife's hand on his trip to China. Personally I'm not sure it was the right course of action. I think the pressure may have gotten to him.
  18. There you go! Now that's fun for the whole family--Might even bring the ladies back.
  19. I have a couple of concerns about this forum. "The grumper" thread is far too popular for my liking. Just when it starts working it's way down the list, someone sticks his nose back into it. Moreover, at the present time, "The grumper", "Cho yummy things" and "Playful pussies" are in far too close proximity. Just a coincidence???!!! Hmm... Maybe somethings are better left off the menu. I think db also made a comment about not enough girls on the forum. There could be a connection. On the plus side, the Niseko vs. Hukabi thread is getting much more interesting these days.
  20. OK. I know there are people who know Niseko better than I do but I'm going to jump in here in defense of Niseko a bit because it's no fun if everyone just rags on it. That's what the Niseko probs thread is for. I'll stick on lots of gremlins for ever-so-subtle subliminal effect. Quote: Boy Thursday posted this good link in another thread and it is a nice example of what many johnny come lately gold rush Niseko money makers don't do. A panoramic photo and a piste map to relate to it along with useful terrain info about the pistes. It isn't the entire 'Niseko' area. But is what
  21. Quote: Ger, you must've come across this one I guess the question is rhetorical, but 'No'--I havn't seen that one. There aren't many lines at Niseko but when they put one up they really don't want you to cross it. At the gates to some of the open semi-BC like 'stranberries' -- which has moderately steep sections -- standard 'black diamond' stuff at a respectable N.American resort -- they have very ominous warning signs which make it sound like you're about to jump into a live volcano. The signs go to show that anything with a bit of pitch is considered pretty extreme at Niseko, but it is
  22. Quote: Mr W, many firms have been interested in the Prince. The problem is that it is not being sold as a single item. To buy the prince a buyer has to take on a lot of other less appealing properties. I never thought the Prince itself was very appealing either. Monster high rise hotel that looks very 1970's on the inside. Seems like the ghost of skiing's past.
