  1. interesting. i skateboard regular and board goofy. large majority of goofy in your poll tsondaboy unexpected after what i usually see around the skifields. i find japanese all seem to be regular, which is great cause it means the left edge of the slopes is a little fresher.
  2. i knew you guys would come thru with the goodz! ill look for the chat on flow bindings....
  3. im in the market for new bindings as teh sales get good. i currently have click-in bindings, with no other support. despite the tremendous convenience, i feel like im compromising a lot of performance. anyone got opinions on the 'FLOW' bindings? or any other bindings i should/shouldn't buy?
  4. i boarded a season duck. thought it was definitely the way foward. and as le spud says"opens up a whole lot more 180 fun". However, for elegant carving and clean turns uck dosent dosent cut the mustard i find. ive compromised with zero on my back foot.
  5. sorry, i didnt realise this was the professional only snow chat
  6. you dont think the snow is good at niseko Oceans 11? im just a mere intermediate snowboarder, but even on the groomed slopes the snow was far nicer to ride than anywhere else ive been in niigata or nagano. if all fat chicks are as good a ride as niseko, i will have to start altering my standards.
  7. ive just come back from 4 days at Niseko. some of the best boarding ive had. didnt find it too flat. some great tree runs. unfortunately 1 downside was fresh tracks were hard to find. Its no exageration about the Ozzies there, but i had no problems aside from the few checking out my girlfriend, but hey i was checking out most of the chicks there too! ironically i was kept up 1 night by raucous japanese dudes. Infact, i found it quite refreshing to have a smile and a chat on the gondolas and in the onsens. The snow quality was obviously mint, and in a hotel brochure i recieved it said e
  8. sorry quattro, on closer inspection, i get it. thanks. it hasnt been a problem yet, ill go carefully around the edges though from now.
  9. att. QUATTRO i use an old travel iron which seems to do the job ok. however it has a teflon plate. you mentioned that this is no good. i didnt quite understand your explanation - can u run it by me again...
  10. yeah you can sit down for a talk (all in japanese), costs about 1000 yen, then you get access to ride certain slopes. you get a yellow band. reading this forum, i guess ive been lucky here in my 3rd season in japan. ive had the odd 'DAME DESU YO' yelled at me, but never been pulled up, let alone my pass being taken. maybe im too fast
  11. what about a pork bowl? with herb cheese maybe.
  12. id like to see that bird on a board - that would be impressive!
  13. well, kintaro you must seek out a sukiya! truth be known, if u r not keen on yoshinoya you wont much care for the other 2. however as farquah pointed out, there is far more variety than the basic meat on rice at sukiya. Generally I cook 3 square meals a day at home kintaro, but try to get down to sukiya atleast once a week!
  14. where do you dine? The Big 3 are ofcourse yoshinoya, matsuya and sukiya. yoshinoya was my first thrilling experience of gyuudon and therefore always held a special place. However since the banning of US beef. its frankly gone to the dogs. you cant go past the free miso soup at matsuya, probably the best value 4 money of the 3. For me though, sukiya is the prefered option. the choice of bar seat, booth or table; the extensive menu; the premium service. plus its very close to my house. my personal favourite is 'herb cheese gyuudon' - sensational. I'd like to hear your views.
  15. sorry Nads, with a name like that i just assumed, but i quote - "assumption is the mother of all f**k-ups" (lock stock and 2 smoking barrels) OK 'sis' see you there maybe (you are coming from south korea?) Yeah, Yamakashi. 'Tracks bar' is the place. have you been? A kiwi mate mike was running the bar there last season.
  16. Nads, i think i'll be heading to hakuba again. goryu actually. meeting buddies from nagoya. there's a great guy Dave, kiwi bloke who runs the backpackers there. last year there was a new year party at a little nightclub under the backpackers. good time. im not sure whats in store this year but there's always a good bunch of people there. let me know if you go that way bro... your dead right yamayamayama, not much goes on after dark
  17. okutadami gets a lot of snow, opens soon. its in niigata near where the big earthquake was last year. but its a bit tough to get to.
  18. in general i dont indulge on the slopes much. however, its a great feeling towards the end of the day to smoke a bit of michael jackson, crank the bob marley and carve some slow lines down the mountain, especially in powder!
  19. the past week has been bloody cold in niigata, despite the cold ive caught, maybe a change for the good! todays a cracker though
  20. Any good parties going on on any of the mountains for new years eve this year? Ive had a couple of good parties at hakuba in previous years but id like to broaden my horizons...
