  1. It's simple. If you don't want smoke then bugger off. If you don't want the smell of beer, don't go to the Pub. If you don't want beer and fags then bugger off. It's your choice. Fark you :finger:
  2. CHELSEA coach Luiz Felipe Scolari believes his team can win all three domestic trophies, the Champions League, University Challenge and Masterchef. The Brazilian insisted his squad is strong enough to conquer Europe and, for the first time in its history, take the title of best amateur cook in Britain. He said: "Frank Lampard has developed the most exquisite game terrine with cranberry jam. "It will make all other food seem weak and badly organised. Let's just hope he doesn't **** off to Inter Milan." He added: "Deco has been working on marinated rack of lamb in training. I
  3. Your starter for 10. a) Asia. b)Liberal democracy. c)Ruled by law. d)Excellent winter snow. (Hint: It's not Singapore )
  4. But it's OK having an open fire. All that burning vegetable matter, as opposed to burning vegetable matter. I see someone in the UK was arrested for smoking in his car. He was carrying tools and therefore that made it a "place of work". Nuts, and nuts to the anti-smoking wowsers too.
  5. I did the deed this morning, and dropped her off at hospital. The timing is good because they have a visiting consultant surgeon up from Tokyo for the week. Her main concern was whether she'd be fit to lift 25kg bags of flour by next Monday. :sigh:
  6. Time to move on from Fragrant Harbour, methinks. I'm afraid my interest in the games is approaching zero. It hasn't quite got up to that level yet.
  7. A good wood burner does the trick Mamabear. The ex- used to complain about the time I spent splitting logs. Pearl used to love it when I pulled a mattress down in front of the stove at night, and put a log on the fire Pearl's dead. I miss wood burners.
  8. THE French army was in chaos last night after the resignation of its most senior general left it temporarily unable to retreat. The French perfected the art of running away after Napoleon's disastrous retreat from Moscow in 1812 General Bruno Cuche quit his post after one of his soldiers shot 17 civilians at a military show instead of just putting down his gun and running away. The general's shock departure left the army chain of command in disarray with senior officers unsure who was now responsible for ordering retreats and surrenders. Guy Delafarge, a captain stationed in e
  9. "FOOTBALLER Cristiano Ronaldo is being lined up to star in a multi-million dollar remake of the epic TV series Roots. Ronaldo has demanded £3.5m per episode Producers say the star's treatment at the hands of Manchester United make him the perfect choice to portray the young African slave who is beaten by his brutal masters. The Portuguese winger said he had been traumatised by 'outrageous' demands that he honour the £125,000 a week, legally-binding contract, which has brought him only, misery, adulation and Gemma Atkinson. Speaking from the titanium gazebo in the rose garden
  10. Thanks JA. I used to be a batchelor: I know how to make a peanut butter and vegemite sandwich.
  11. Morning. Coolish and cloudy again today. Fwiw, I've still not needed aircon yet this year.
  12. I`ve never had a problem with Qantas, other than they won`t fly my children unaccompanied from Perth to Narita. They do have an aging fleet and have severely disrupted their maintenance system by rationalising part of it from Sydney to Avalon, and the rest to Malaysia. There is no avoiding the fact that new aircraft are more reliable than old aircraft, no matter how good the maintenance. Qantas` fleet is old. Singapore`s fleet is new.

A management problem I'm afraid Mamabear. If you are genuinely concerned, pick a carrier with a new fleet. That's spelled Singapore.
  14. How long have you been away pie-eater? I found that after a couple of years away, going back was visiting a foreign country. I left the UK in (mumble) 1989, so its been a looong time now.
  15. Sorry to hear that I originally felt the corrosion theory most probable, because it is a known problem. Gas cylinders are very stable and it is extremely rare for them to fail without any external cause. Science means fitting a theory to the observations. When they no longer match, you change the theory. And thanks Mamabear, that's very kind of you.
  16. I think we need some alternative suggestions. Here's mine. I spent a lot of time on this. I think "It symbolises the Olympic spirit and the ability of the Games to inspire people to take part - not just as spectators, but as volunteers, in the Cultural Olympiad and more."
  17. Yes, local. About 20 minutes away. Unlike the UK, you can also park free of charge. She left for work after lunch today with the cheery message "...if you need anything to eat, go to the shop and buy it!".
  18. This is from the wife of the pilot: "You might not recall that my husband was ex-RAN A4. He now flies 747-400. He had the explosive decompression yesterday. Fun day! I can give your readers some facts that are solid: No engines were shut down. Aeroplane’s controls were unaffected. Some computer functions and electrics were affected - all 3 ILS shut down and the Capt’s FMC. Antiskid warning came on. The R2 door alarm activated. Capt inititated controlled descent from 29K to 10K, which took about 4 mins. Mayday was called (John never ever thought he would have to
  19. She's going back into hospital tomorrow for five days. This time they will be going in fairly deep.
  20. Chelsea 4, Guangzhou Pharmaceuticals 0 Time for the drug company to up their game. We've been here before. I'd like to see Guangzhou Pharmaceuticals play Hamilton Academicals.
  21. Ning. Very nice today. Cool after lots of overnight rain.
  22. The big display here is at Tsuruoka. It's a competition between about 5 different groups to put on the best display. They each get about 20 minutes, so its fairly intense.
