  1. Sounds good Kuma! Did you ever see the film shots that Owen(?) and you took that time? Or is that what you mean.... ah yes, I'm being slow... you said something about scanning it in. That'd be it then. CB - your classes sound way too much fun. Careful, they'll learn stuff. Actually I like about half my classes, and I had 24 of them last week (7 on my own, so more fun) so that was a bit hectic. No internet for me at school now though. Oyuki - sorry I haven't replied to your email - I'm definately up for the skate road trip, will email you soon. FT - how's the shed coming
  2. exactly. what kind of riding do you do? Where? How much snow? How fast? How often? These are more important than the cost of the board to match it to your needs.
  3. I'll add Unity - Colorado made small-ish snowboards into that list - 2 year warranties and were in Transworld's Top 10 Good Wood several years running.
  4. Everything deteriorates and breaks down eventually, so it really depends how often you are using it. Spending more so that it will last a long time would only really work if you DON'T use it that often - like 20 days or less a season, I think. Riding rails will damage your edges, riding on aggressive snow in Spring wears out your base more, riding in the harsh sunlight of Spring will fade or discolour topsheets, falling onto the ends of your board when learning new jumps can crack them or wear out the flex, hitting the knuckles of jumps will wear out the pop eventualy, exploring new
  5. Yeah, I model myself on Nicolas Muller. Unfortunately it seems I have only ever watched footage of him not landing stuff, being a bit of a pussy and and generally flailing around with an absence of pop. That bs180 was the exception - and yeah, it was supposed to be given more tuck-knee euro tweak.
  6. switch method! **** that! how did that sneak through the crapness police - that's too good to be on here. Now go home.
  7. PS. What happened to the long-lense shots of Oyuki in the gondola?
  8. Rubbish pics - but at least I'M in one of them. Just kidding. Nice pics, I like the one of Sugi, and Oyuki's method. Oyuki also tweaked the 80's ass off a method over the kicker on the last hit of the day, wearing a heavy backpack with an even heavier longboard snow-skate strapped to it!
  9. that's not the only small things they show! (my phone's pretty small) That was fun, especially pushing Sugi off it - it's flat on top, so it's push your friends off something time. fun. Kuma was trying to shoot from inside the cafeteria but a girl in a hat about the same size as her sat down right in line! It's nice not having to change your clothes when you come off the hill - just swap the shoes and off you go.
  10. Everything I was using (except my bindings) were 3 years old - Board, Boots, Pants, Jacket, Googgles. I do buy new stuff, but sometimes you go back to the older stuff (thanks to Nikwax) I met a J-ripper on a 9 or 10 year old Sims Aaron Vincent board (had cost him 3000yen!) on Saturday too - and he was better than any of us!
  11. how did the out of the cafeteria shots turn out on a big screen? (with the woman in the world's biggest beanie right in the way!) nice shots - the one of Sugi looks like yoiu are spying on him (naked) in the woods!
  12. Good report! Probably still my favourite skijo (resort??!) in Japan. No people and one of the few resorts with open terrain suitable for building kickers (always lots of photos from there in TWS Japan) I would live in Morioka to ride there every weekend, if I ever saw jobs there.
  13. Kuma are you going to be in Hakuba this weekend?Or any more weekends after that? Nice pics.
  14. Cherry blossom seasonal represent! I tried riding in that but it was too hard to breath through! The comp was fun, but shortened format due to rain the night before. One inspection jump, then one comp jump was pretty tight. I tried cab5 but didn't land it, but that's better than sticking with a trick you know you can do (like bs 3 double grab) as that doesn't represent any progression. It was also straight out of the car - 2andhalf hours driving - boots on - drop in, 1st hit - drop in, comp hit - straight out of the box. (kind of favoured the local riders who had it it befor
  15. Does anyone know any good computer shops in Nagano city? I am going to buy a new external Harddrive, and heard there are some cheap computer shops in Nagano city (compared to the Yamada denki I have here, near Matsumoto). I want to buy a LaCie 160gb Mobile harddrive... a bit more expensive at nearly 2 man than the big desktop external ones, but I don't want another power adaptor, plus they are small and well designed. Has anyone seen LaCie stuff in shops here? I know they are distributed here. cheers
  16. sliding doors are the biz. EBC - why on earth would anyone want to buy an American car in Japan, the land of brilliantly engineered cars??? back on topic... any sign of this forcast snow? Snowforcast.com only shows about 19cm to fall over 3 days...

I'll continue to mess around in Premiere this week, which will enable me to make a better assessment of the new one's merits. face is heling up slowly, will be scarred, and nose not quite the same, but i'm more bothered about what my bs 180s look like than my face!
  18. Hey Toque, what's all that white stuff in the way of your skis, and covering the trees?
  19. Quote: Originally posted by slow: Oyuki, I'd love to see it and thinking... Would you like to show it in Tokyo? careful! I think Oyuki Kigan was nearly arrested for 'showing it' in Tokyo last time he was there... Oh. You mean the film, Bikecar. Sorry, my mistake
  20. Am I missing something... Everyone refers to cold medicine, and rushes to the doctor here (foreign as well as Japanese people by the look of this thread)... ...isn't a cold a virus? Hence, there is no such thing as 'cold medicine'. You can take medicine to ease some of the related symptoms, for example paracetamol to reduce the temperature of a related fever, ibuprofen or some other painkiller to relieve the pain of related headaches, antibiotics to fight the bacterial infection of a sore throat, but there is NO MEDICINE FOR A COLD ITSELF! Doctors in the UK (despite all the
  21. Oh, nice thread Oyuki, really, nice thread. I like: 'Gully of Stupidity' (FT) - this makes most sense when you look at the photo posted by Fubuki of the south faces. and 'Waterfall on your face' (SJA, as in, 'What a fall on your face', i presume) for best comedy name, as the waterfall played a big part in my emotional experience of it. Who Needs Leaders (Toque) gets my mum's vote. but don't give up the day jobs anyone.
  22. dilated, yo. It's lucky you caught me on a good day. 'Cos sometimes I can look pretty rough.
  23. So how was it.... ??? We want a full in-depth comparison... Good day for it, by the look of the pics, nice spring sugar snow. Well done for going out and doing it!
