  1. switch means riding backwards when boarding ...subsequently a switch jump is a jump that goes uphill. hope i helped.
  2. anyone else like that dog that cuts up on the アイフル (apparently aiful in romaji) ad? he really spits some sand out those back legs. thats one major burn out! i dont want a dog as such, but a beast like that...rockin!!
  3. no real advice, per se, i aint got the experience, but i like your thinking. im going medium and straight natural, so its probly a good time to drop in a few switch jumps... now..the advice..on the ground tricks dvd i got it talks of ollie 360's, the narration says u can jump off your toes or your heels, and i watched a couple of riders (off heel and toe) and both spin frontside. so maybe if the toes feel good then toes it is. for others trying 360s on the flat..its usu more a 270 so the trick is not catching a leading edge on the landing. im having trouble learning this bit, but o
  4. sorry, jazza, if i got u all wrong. but lets say u got it half right with me, and i voted rules are relative, what have u helped to explain?
  5. hey, whered the calm down bit go?? no my post looks kinda funny. put it back, i dont mind, really.
  6. i cant calm down!! ive woken up, again, to find no vegemite in the house. im in limbo, unable to start my day. how would u feel if u had bread, butter, tea and milk but no vegemite? and then to hear that people think my all my hard work polling forum visitors on rule breakage has been in vain...this is the end, man
  7. Quote: Half the ppl here are prolly AET's from Perth seeing snow and skiing for the first time in their lives they barely get up the big lifts yet alone ski in the trees. thanks for the vote of confidence, jared. and u make a good point. maybe people who r unfamilar with snow don't have the right to have an opinion on things snow related. i spent an afternoon riding the trees in nozawa (well, y'know gullies with trees on the edges) but that hardly speaks volumes for my expertise. if u'd prefer the non experts stick to beginners forums, just say. Quote: And lest anybody be foolish
  8. is it a threat that requires increased security or is increased security that is the threat? does this mean i should start locking my snowboard??
  9. whilst cheese may have some beneficial characteristics, it would be difficult indeed to overvalue the importance of vegemite. im glad it has already been raised in discussion. not only should one always have a jar of vegemite, a spare is also to be considered most essential. can u believe the cruel, thoughtless, overpaid and undertalented stock filler in meidya (international food stuff store) let the vegemite shelf run dry!!??!! should be sacked IMO. gardamit!! i had to have eggs for breakfast today. got nothinhg against eggs. but we should never foresake the gift laid upon e
  10. aaah, some still bathing in the glories of youth. i myself will be joining the aged ranks of the over 30s before the decade is half over. maybe passed the age of doing the dedicated season thing. i feel its time to start beating down my long held desire to do nothing but am sorrowful in doing so. but boys will always be boys im thinking...
  11. i lost a few of the ol kiloramas after injury and travel and am fighting up from aforementioned weight division. my local gym is 200 yen a pop and full o' sweet new equipment. cant really be beat. run by the city. what kind folk they be. caring for the health of their citizies.
  12. there r a few with the nog holders on. i can only compare to nz too, where it is pretty infrequent. 47 certainly has more than its share of style masters, especially going big with baggy pants and dangley things, but theres always a helmet to be seen somewhere. my body is complaining about my helmet. it seems my head now has a willingness to keep going when before it would have said "ouch, thats enough for one day"
  13. did u check that powerful tail!? thats hard! i just miss the bush really, going kinda stir crazy. i love riding but it doesnt have the soulful relaxation of chillin by river in the middle of nowhere. there a time to be pumped and a time for chillin. got nowhere to chill. where the f@#k did u find that photo and how did u find in such efficient time?? (i just wanna know so i can browse at lonely moments)
  14. did u know 40% of the energy of a kangaroos bound is transmitted to its next jump by its enormous elastic tendons. what a creature. i once saw a kangaroo fall over. u shoulda seen how embarassed it was!
  15. i thought it meant "desert boot" and highlighted your pride in your bogan heritage.
  16. mushrooms of the magical were to be had with the nod of mr plod, but this i believe has changed, as someone worked out they do funny things to your head. a bit of a shame. someone (who wasnt living there) used the gaijin pad i lived in to import shit via the post! then asked me to bring it over when it arrived!! the nerve of some people! i asked for it to stop, but at least one futher package came thru.
  17. aaaaaah the damn ichi en db, dont get me started, i'll go crazy. what the point in a coin thats not valuable enough to bend over and pick up if u drop it. i especially hate when i have 104 yen and i buy something for 105. my sorry looks and pitiful subcost offering get me nowhere with the combini staff, cos they know i got a note and they wanna see me break it. they dont even feel like real money
  18. and i thought they were hassling me in oz when they said i couldnt get my photo on my new licence cos i didnt have a photo on my old licence, and i would need to present my passport (it has since become compulsory to have a photo). so my current licence still has no photo... and no issue date. but i'm hoping the big city cops do it easy...
  19. i left after one year vowing never to return, but one year later i was back, and with a different perspective its been lots more fun. i couldnt imagine living here long term though, mainly cos i find the cities oppressive and the countryside oppressive. i dig mountains, and am seriously disturbed as to what i'll do for snow in the future, but where r the wide open spaces? and where r the kangaroos? for a fun big file try: http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/data/ev104/ev10466_Honshu.A2001288.0155.1km.jpg and thats why japan looks like it does.
  20. never come across one without a flashing light on myself. but i like the landcruiser on tracks at nozawa. i asked the dude if i could drive it, but he said no.
  21. if youre sick, let it slip! polling dunt move the thread. and i think its finished now any way.... 3:1 for the rules. thanks for ya time.
  22. well im off on a night bus this eve, and my knees have been giving me a bit of grief. im changing my stance first run tomorra to try a more forward stance (+18/0) i was riding duck (+15/-3). thoughts and opinions please. theres tonnes of good info at http://www.cs.uu.nl/~daan/snow/stance.html so in the mean time lets poll. (nb. 0 degrees on the back foot will be considered forward) feel free to post your angles.
  23. well, ocean talked of being old(?!) and badmigraine revealed his age in another thread...i was just wonderin'...this forum seems rather a lot more mature than others ive peeped at...just how old r u guys??? i'll tell if u will
  24. g'morning guys, didnt intend to try and reignite an old argument (i read the old posts and know the sitch). just wanted to get a wider view from the polls and let my opinion be known. must admit i am a tad surprised by the numbers but maybe thats why things in society works Quote: If a rule is easy to break, it often means the justification for it is very thin. good point...i used to climb radio towers in the bush in oz as a pasttime, and u knew if the tower was one they really didnt want u to climb because the security was different. (just wanted to see the view )
