  1. Adventure world in Shirahama - Wakayama pref' has a huge zoo and its sad, two polar bears in a concrete pit with people peering from above, their coats are greenish and one was walking from the food door to the other end of the pit continously banging his head on the wall...really sad. Otters and seals in tiny tanks going insane. Penguins again in a concrete pit. After that place I am off zoos totally it was sad, What heinous crime did these poor animals committ to get put in such a tortous prison?? I heard Tennoji Zoo in Osaka is worse, An Orangutan in tiny cage looking for some means

Pretty simple really its the left and right to the skier as he he coming down coz it gets confusing if you are riding up a chair or standing at the bottom and you say "wow look at all powder to the left of the top chairlift" do you mean the current left and right relative to yourself or skiers left or right to a skier coming down.???
  4. right on....I am hearing you about the lack of steep stuff in Japan, but hey you cant win them all. You also hit the slopes alot more than me too, so I can dig your passion for the freestyle, its hard to find and ride pow everyday and the short runs are good, but the desire for little more can never be quenched. I cant wait to go touring with my buddies in the Southern Alps in NZL, get dropped off by helicopter and left to explore for a week....now thats where I want to be at.
  5. Barok! what is this blasphemy!!! I saw your new signature dude whats going on!!!!!! "powder shmowder . . . It's all about spinning big air! ! "
  6. Nope....I like to get away from it all in the mountains....clean air....silence (therefore I absolutely despise the resorts that play garbage music over the P.A speakers) On a quiet weekday its nice to be sitting alone on a chair, soaking up the splendour of nature, deep in your own thoughts. I do some of my best thinking, deep contemplation sitting on lift chairs.
  7. the one near the bottom of the quad? yeah its big, but aint it a little close to the quad? wash the landing and you could possibly be wrapping yourself around the quad terminal.Just a thought
  8. Hey Sunrise last month you had your long dilemma with boots. How did it all go in the end? Did it all work out for you?

I would like to see that Bridge it would be 3000km across. woywoy if I were you I would go to Wanaka, Treble and Cardrona plus the town is not as commercialized as Queenstown, still has character, failing that Queenstown. Methven/Moount Hutt are a little insular and quiet, but do have Christchurch nearby if you need some action
  13. Skiing is easy to say and has less syllables and is universally encompassing. The end
  14. wow Skwal I saw one of those in Spotaka shop recently, havent seen one for 5 years. I tried riding one back then, when they first came out and its a really interesting thing, your feet and both pointing foward, one behind the other on a narrow waist with a really big sidecut-wide tip and tail. Anyway its a fairly unstable thing due to the positon of your feet, just try standing like that right now, you have no stability. To make it work your hip must face foward at all times and no twisting so all the motion is conducted from the knees, angling them in the direction you want to go. you ne
  15. I went back to skiing after boarding and I found that I was much better at skiing! maybe it was because I had more feel for steep snow and going fast, but I found I had more confidence than when I had skiied as a early teen. So go for it and with new ski technology you will feel even better and nothing beats skiis when the snow is not in great condition, ie icy......twoedges are better than one
  16. Check it out 80cm of snow in Algeria! and they are loving it! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/2749891.stm

  18. Quote: Originally posted by wilberbeast: Do they get huge amounts of snow comparable to the Japan mtns? rarely. a mid season 1.5m base is usual for Mt Hutt and they have the most consistent. Occasionally there are epic dumps, of 50+cm in a night but unfortuneately they are rarer than Japan. Japan has more snow and more powder days than NZ. But NZ has better terrane in my opinion, its steeper and often more challenging. There is a local field called Craigeburn and its gravy . it has no grooming, one green slope, a few blue and the rest black and Double black, and they have one run on the
