This means that the answer to the question is, that if you want to freeride in powder how much snow the place get does matter.

Im not being vague, im being honest. If hachimantai was still open I would say there is your freeriding place. There is Getou for better terrain and huge snowfall. Shizukushi maybe shows promise but it is short like getou and only averages 6 to 7meters of snowfall. Then there is Zao but it is a hard resort to understand.

I would recommend not skiing in Aomori and looking elsewhere in the area. Hakkoda is not steep and if you dont know the mountain it is boring. The term free riding is used mainly for wide open terrain. Not dense 20 degree tree riding. The touring around Hakkoda is also considered some of the most dangerous and unpredictable in Japan.

I wouldnt call hakkoda a freeriding resort either

You are a professional athlete and you are being watched. whether you agree or not Japan is strict with their laws. It allows us to live in this bubble of safety. Anything from drinking and driving, to a car accident, a fight or drugs or etc. Is treated very harshly here. You can disagree but that is just Japan.

They paid a huge 2 cents a share last year! They owe 900 billion yen which only decreased 12billion last year. Thus my uneducated financial conclusion is??? How are they going to find the money to upgrade jack beep. They cant, a good company would look for partners. There are partners here in Hakuba that want to inject capital but this ridiculously run company wont even think of that. I would hedge a bit that there are people in Niseko that would inject capital into the resort as well.
