Oh dear, how domesticated I am becoming! Yesterday we went out to buy a few kitchen related things. One thing we saw (and I have subsequently ordered for much less online - get your act together shops) is a bin. Dust bin. Garbage bin. It's actually quite cool. American I think, a company called simplyhuman. They seem to have a few cool things on offer. Any good tips for kitchen stuff as we continue our search to populate our new one?

Will have to be careful I suppose. And further supposing, I suppose when everything is yours, you tend to be that extra bit careful.

Here's another question! On the chair I'm thinking of getting, I have 2 options for casters.... the option that is suitable for flooring is I see is called "soft" and made of ポリウレタン巻 (Polyurethane roll) I want to be fairly confident that I don't scratch my floors from the go, anyone wise enough to let me know if above will be ok?

Going to be giving our new house a good checking over this weekend as it is nearly finished.

I think for those of us actually living in a foreign country, we have to remember that we are not 'normal' in that respect. My brother still can't quite get his head round how and why I decide to live on the other side of the world in Japan. And I don't consider him as a narrow-minded person, though definitely liking living a traditional kind of life. People in general are so narrow minded though.

I'm looking forward to moving to an area that is generally colder than where I am now. Can deal with cold, heat is a different matter altogether.

A few bracket lights we have got in our house, very slim close up to the walls, exposed a few rather unsightly bumps in the wall/paper. The wallpaper we chose probably didn't help. Didn't see it until the brackets showed them up. I had been extremely happy with the wallpaper as well. Close to wall brackets are ruthless! Happily they have agreed to re-do the offending areas to try and get it as close to perfect as possible for me.

Been preparing for that for a while now. Have to do it soon. But the good part is that once that is gone, it's all ours and we don't owe anyone anything. I can start saving again!

One of the few times when I feel uncomfortable here, and very gaijin. Then again, back in my own country I sometimes feel similar frustrations, or even worse. So I think I can live with it.

Anyone got any good ideas re: a decent chair for working at a desk? Something better than the crappy plastic thing in the office where I work! There's so many, and some that are well expensive as well. I know close to nothing about chairs.

Yes the points are good. Another few days and I'll have close to 20,000 yens worth to use. Seems it takes 20 days for you to be able to use them.
