Snow in Japan

Yes let's running CB-I'm sure you'll make it one of these days even though whenever we arrange to run you cancel due to a hangover or something I didn't know some punk ass ran into CG -
Room temperture
Davo replied to gamera's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Japanese indoor temps are usually way too hot for me. Your city guests sound like they're soft as shite Gamera and getting a cold might teach them to harden up a little. Same goes for the summertime aircon madness, the only reason people get colds in summer is because they're constantly exposed to tremendous temperature extremes. Let's not cranking the denki-let's saving the energy! -
BC skiing with the Boys in Happo
Davo replied to mattlucas's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I would love to go up there sometime, in fact if I only did something like that once, and nothing else for the rest of the season, I'd be as satisfied as any office bunny could be. -

How is CG doing CB? It sounds pretty serious. This work thing blows goats, I mean why do I get all the keeners who want lessons at 8:00 or 8:30 in the morning? I'm protesting by pissing around on the net for a while. -

It goes all the way down to the valley floor, so if it were a big slab fracture it could go huge. There's a good reason why there are no trees in these areas, that is, massive slides in the past. This one wasn't so big, in terms of snow volume, but it was big enough. I've seen it down to the dirt up there at times. -

The girl were cracking up at my friend and his stories about going to the New Japan Sauna in Umeda, which he insists is not a pinku establishment. She was hobbling about quite bit so I think she took quite a tumble. No snowshoes and I think most of the time I've been hiking they'd have been a hinderence more than anything else. Would still like to get some though-at times they're essential. -

Yeah NPM I was thinking more on the avi side of things-but Fattwins was being his usual risque self. I thought the above behaviour was unusual treatment for someone complaining of having a scratched ass-but hey, each to his own. -

That was the North Face and we did a Sth facing bowl. Yep O11 a huge crown and the run-out is pretty much endless, I hope whoever set it off was able to ride it out safely. We chose not to go down the North side yesterday, this being one reason. I'd say there were plenty of safe routes down there but the above slide just demonstrates the potential for trouble. My contribution to the discussion is that you'd better be damn sure the conditions are safe as before you go plowing straight down the guts of an aspect like that. Sweet day out yesterday Touque-cheers. -

That's bad news about Risa-hope she is gonna be ok. Good idea to get a collection together for her to buy something to keep her spirits up. CB, sorry my mate coming up is causing ride hassles, hopefully we can work something out. Totally relate to the work getting in the way of fun thing, there has to be some reason why I haven't been boarding since January . My new job is sweet but I pretty much have to put it before anything else apart from family. -

FT you know it's me and one more on 3/3 right? He reckons he hasn't snowboarded in 8 years & I keep telling him he should go. How you could live in Japan and not get up to the snow is something I can't comprehend-especially when I'm talking to people who say they like to ski or board. -
Indo, I got some nice Asics at Sportaka in Osaka and they have your sizes here in Japan, so if you can't find em in a shop you could contact them. Actually they may be be able to order the size for you at good shop. Do you have Niketown outlet store in Nagoya? They usually have larger sizes. Agree with CreekBoy-running shoes are definate try before you buys, unless you get the same model.

If it happened in my relationship I think that it would be a very low point. If it happens in someone elses it's basically none of my business, and I'm not in the position nor of the inclination to make judgements. I'll look after my own affairs-no pun intended -thanks. A marriage that survives cheating may be a lot better thing than one which doesn't, then again it may not. All very subjective I reckon.

What is 'cheating' anyway ? I think this is a definition which varies from person-to-person and relationship-to-relationship. For some people, viewing and..er...reacting to porn constitutes cheating. Some couples might play around with other people together and not view it as cheating. I saw a doco about porn stars once and they interviewed a couple who often 'acted' in different films. Her take on it was something like "well if he's just ******* another girl thats ok but it would break my heart if I caught him holding hands with someone else". Different strokes aye ... Life i

I lurk on plenty of forums, some of them I have posted on occasionally but lost interest. This is the only forum I actually bother posting on nowadays. Nothing wrong with being a lurker. Hello lurkers

Things that can make you cry almost instantly

Kintaro, that's a genuine tragedy. Pretty raw stuff watching them both trying to revive the boy as he died and then the mother bowing and thanking the medical team after he was pronounced dead. One of the saddest things I've ever seen. -
Quote: I went out with one once. 2 nights later she was saying and doing the same thing with another guy. I heard she "didn't usually do that" with quite a large number of guys. Ha ha Nagoid...I'm sure some of them were telling the truth

Out of bound issues at Arai
Davo replied to Blair's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Well at Happone it's clearly stated that sking out of bounds is dangerous and done at your own risk. They're not liable and they don't seem to want the aggro of stopping the inevitable-very simple. Arai seems like a special case in some ways, that being so just take their passes and ban them from the resort. Either that or just put up signs like they do at Happone. Cover your legal angles and let them ski off a cliff. Bottom line is, don't go out of bounds if you don't know what you're doing, and don't expect help from the resort if you come undone. -

Kintaro, my wife and I were crying watching that too-having kids makes you all emotional about that kind of thing.
