  1. Okay, here's the problem. 1 Boarder 1 Skier Talking about going out to the mountain on the weekend for a ????? What the hell do we call it?! Boarding? No there is a skier. Skiing? No there is a skier. Sorry to trouble you all, but this is one just one of those insgnificant-to-the-sport-we-love questions that hit you on a quiet afternoon at work and want an answer too, when you have nothing better to do but post on the SJG site.
  2. You should look at about 2 hours by train from Narita to Haneda. 2.5 hours might be safer by the time you organise trains, drag gear around and find your way around. You should look at other options like Limosine buses etc as these might be quicker if there is no traffic jams.
  3. Anyone know where I can get cheap body protection in XL sizes? When I say body protection I am talking about something that has elbow pads, articulated spine pad, shoulder pad etc....
  4. It is true boys & girls, Paddy was sighted, spoken too and repremanded for his antics in Niseko that year by none other than myself. in fact Paddy was given the address to this site and forum so he may bask in his stardom. So come on Paddy, if you are looking, grace us with your comments! This report was bought to you by Mogski in NZ, proudly sponsored by his parents!
  5. You are all sick! You realise that insurance does not cover this kind of problem don't you?
  6. Take a look here. http://www.skijapanguide.com/2002/daily-reports/hakuba-now.html
  7. 1. Do ducks? Well it is not that bad, but be warned! Most signs in the Major centers are in English, but get into the country and you are on your own. Don't count on the level of English of the general population to be anywhere near competent. People in the big cities eg. Tokyo will pass you over, but in the country they are only too happy to help even if you cannot communicate with them. Just be patient and nice and you will do fine! 2. This is probably the only country in the world we people actually do keep money under the mattress because the "banking system" does not even dese
  8. Forget Gala Yuzawa and go to Naeba if you are really wanting to choose between the two! Gala Yuzawa is the Shinjuku stn of the Japanese skifields! Way too crowded unless you are there on weekday. Even if you do go on a weekday make sure it has snowed past since then or you might as well be ice skating!
  9. Been hodling back, but what the hell...here goes. Skis: Sally PocketRockets & K2 Killer Bees Bindings: Look and Sally Boots: Nordica Poles: Scott Pants & Goggles: Oakley Jacket and stuff: Fairydown Gloves: Trying Burton AK's this year See all you Feb Niseko-er's there!
  10. Speights? You might as well be drinking water mate!
  11. Badmigraine, Master Yoda say "glass empty not, full glass is. Badmigraine problem drinking has."
  12. Hey Lama, those lonely toe socks I hear they are good for atheletes foot and all that stuff, but are they really that warm? What about crunched pigs in the boot pig box problems given that you have extra width when wearing those things? As for the glove issue just bought a pair of Burton AK gloves - the ones with the primaloft stuff in the "glove" inner- sweet pieces. Gotta hand to the boarder companies, certainly know how to make good gear. Wonder when the dedicated ski companies will lower thier noses enough to smell the roses and start making stuff that is functional, cool and
  13. My apologies then. Drink: Southern Comfort straight. Easier on the taste buds than whiskey yet still with the same power and sugar in there to give you a high to complement and accelrate the natural reaction. YEAH
  14. Yeah I do some of that too. You should try sometime. I do ponder over your choice of comment directed at me followed up by your suggested drink of Schnapps.
  15. Some pretty short lifts you are using. Bunny sloper perhaps? My general policy is quality over quantity.
  16. Ah, badmigraine is keeping up with the times I see. Posting on a dead message ofweeks ago. Salomon Pocket Rockets Rule!
  17. Why waste time with the drink?! You all heard of the mile high club right? Welcome her to the 4m high club!
  18. Hey Ocean. I can sympathise with your problem. I am a big guy too who is not catered for in this small society. After months of searching on the net for places that do int'l shipping, I can tell you the picking are really small. Anyway you can try www.rei.com. I notied they had some Ride step ins there and they do int'l shipping on most brands except for the big ones with ugly re-export policies. Namely: Burton, Salomon, North Face etc. [This message has been edited by mogski (edited 04 December 2001).] [This message has been edited by mogski (edited 04 December 200
  19. Maybe you should save yourself the trouble and spend a couple of hours fitting new boots. Better off for the price you are talking about. Not only do you get a good fitting boot, but a new one too! Maybe look at softer flexing boots? Less nuts and bolts in the things to get into all those annoying hurting places. Flexon, Salomon Pro Model(if they got it in your foot size. Thanks Salomon Japan for stopping at 28.5 and discriminiating everyone with big feet!)
  20. Well mine certainly didn't cost that much. What the hell was involved in that price? I hand job too? What boots was this customer liner/footbeds thing happening too? For your info the corformable is not a custom liner. It is a custom footbed. Just in case you were trying to figure it out.
