  1. Hi all, I am having trouble finding information regarding getting from Niseko to Noboribetsu... It seems that the train takes over 3 hours and I can't find any buses going to Noboribetsu... Would anybody be able to give me some advice on this? Thanks, Eriond
  2. What would be the technique for riding powder for a skier?? I will be going to Powderland - Hokkaido in January, and would like to be prepared Eri
  3. Wow, deebee, i have the same problem. I'll be travelling to Japan from Hong Kong just to ski, and I have 6 full days... my first criteria is of course the size of the mountain, and whether it has any other slopes linked to it. I've picked Hokkaido for the snow, so that sort of narrows down the "island". In Hokkaido, there are several large resorts, and Niseko has been ranked quite high up at the top from the rankings at Snow Japan. After looking at the resort map at Niseko, (http://www.niseko.gr.jp/map-e.htm), it looks good for a 5 ski-day trip plus a half day or full day of sightse
  4. Wow, thanks for the leads. By looking at your locations, it seems that you two are from HK. So if you know the websites, it must mean that you've been to Niseko?? If so, do you have any specific places that you can recommend, such as the ones that you have stayed at? Many thanks. I'll go through the suggested sites now! Eriond
  5. I'm planning of skiing at the Niseko resort, but the hotels there are super expensive!! I would like to have the cottage type of accomodation. Are there any recommendations that won't cost an arm or a leg... around 9000yen a night? Many thanks! Eriond
  6. I went to Naeba's website http://www.princehotels.co.jp/naeba/ski/home.html and there seems to a price for the one-day lift ticket at 5000Yen, and in the table below, it lists prices for the gondolas... I am wondering if the one-day lift ticket covers the gondola prices?? I mean do I have to purchase a one-day lift ticket and the gondola separately? Please respond asap as I'm going next week Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the tips. I hate to ice-skate with skis. So do you think January is a good time to go? I'm planning to spend Sunday and Monday skiing... btw, in Naeba, is Prince Hotel the only choice I have? Is 13700yen per night including 2 meals and lift ticket a good deal? Thanks!!

  9. I'm planning to go to Ski in Japan in mid-January (me from Hong Kong), and have narrowed down Niigata (Gala Yuzawa or Naeba, pls advice) or Nagano (Shiga Kogen or Hakuba). Which place is the best in January in terms of snowfall and temperature? Thanks.
  10. Are people who visit this site local Japanese or people from outside Japan?? And will the prizes be available for people outside Japan? FYI. I'm new to this amazing site.
  11. Are there any specific slopes that you can recommend in either Gunma or Yuzawa? How about Nagano? Is that close to Saitama too? As you can see, I have a poor sense of direction. Thanks for your help!
  12. Does anybody know any good ski places in Saitama? Or maybe good ski places within say half an hour to an hour's train ride from Saitama? Thanks
  13. Hi guys, I've got two questions. But first, please let me introduce myself. I live in Hong Kong, and I have skied 7-8 times before in Canada. I'm looking for a good place with a wide variety of difficulty (i'm travelling with 2 beginners in Skiing). After searching on the net for over 2 weeks, I think the ski resorts in Japan are NOT centralized... there are so many small resorts and I have a hard time finding ones that suit my needs. I've sort of narrowed down my choices (please give advise on my decision or let me know of other resorts if you think will suit my group).
